Chapter 24 - Windows and Broken Glass

`Now tell me, Pat, what's that in the window?'

`Sure, it's an arm, yer honour!' (He pronounced it `arrum.')

`An arm, you goose! Who ever saw one that size? Why, it fills the whole window!'

`Sure, it does, yer honour: but it's an arm for all that.'

`Well, it's got no business there, at any rate: go and take it away!'

There was a long silence after this, and Alice could only hear whispers now and then; such as, `Sure, I don't like it, yer honour, at all, at all!' `Do as I tell you, you coward!' and at last she spread out her hand again, and made another snatch in the air. This time there were TWO little shrieks, and more sounds of broken glass. `What a number of cucumber-frames there must be!' thought Alice. `I wonder what they'll do next! As for pulling me out of the window, I only wish they COULD! I'm sure I don't want to stay in here any longer!'

Hello friends...it's CRYSTAL CLEAR that today you're all joining us for a fabulous challenge here at Oh, Alice!   We have all sorts of lovely techniques for you to try today!

Your mission today with Oh, Alice, should you choose to accept it, is to try a technique using cracked glass, crystal effects (or glossy accents), or a window stamp/technique.  There are TONS of possibilities with today's challenge.
So this week I decided to do something a little different.  I’m not sure if you can tell or not but where Alice is peeking in is covered in glossy accents (so is the drink me bottle but I really wanted the opening to show).

Grow Extraordinary

With the beginning of August right around the corner, I guess people have the start thinking about school.  Well I guess they do, hehehe.  Not being a parent myself and not being in school for let’s just say a little bit.  This we’re returning for a bit but a refused the idea a bit but before I confuse you royally I’ll tell you what the heck I’m talking about.  Our illustrious leader this month Sherry has challenged us this week to make our project with our alma mater colors.

OK, besides not reading past the fact that it was about schools I don’t know what my schools colors are because I graduated from a home school.  The high school I went to until the 10th grade well I refuse to use their colors, insert evil grin smirk here.  So I just went with a teacher appreciation card.

AppleGrowAppleGrowIn Now off you go, check out the other girls’ school inspired projects.

Addicts Untie

Ok, I will be the first to tell you I AM A DORK!! (If you’ve ever seen Sydney White that makes it a little funnier).  Anywho, over at All Things Unity this round we have a few things going on.
1)  The lovely and HIGHLY talented Savannah O’Gwynn has agreed to join our team.  I was so excited when she said yes.
2)  We are looking for Guest Designers.  They will be doing 2 month stints, this way they can do 4 challenges with us since we are a bimonthly challenge.
3)  We have a new challenge up this week.  Elizabeth, one of our fellow addict’s let us use one of her sketches.
ElisabethOSketchATU11

Now are you starting to understand a little better the title of my post.  See a normal person would have probably called it Addicts Unite, but I can’t claim normalcy, MWAH HAHAHAHA!!  hehe

I did however take Elizabeth’s sketch and combine it with the Play Date Cafe’s challenge and this is what I came up with.  I’m really starting to dig this whole Clean & Simple thing.  At least for now.

Joy&Happiness

Now don’t forget to go back to not only go back to the All Things Unity blog to check out the other inspiration we have for you but also enter your creations so you too can join in our fun.

CHAPTER 23: Ravens and Writing Desks...

The Hatter opened his eyes very wide on hearing this; but all he said was, "Why is a raven like a writing-desk?"
"Come, we shall have some fun now!" thought Alice. "I'm glad they've begun asking riddles. — I believe I can guess that," she added aloud.
"Do you mean that you think you can find out the answer to it?" said the March Hare.
"Exactly so," said Alice.
"Then you should say what you mean," the March Hare went on.
"I do," Alice hastily replied; "at least--at least I mean what I say--that's the same thing, you know."

Hello everyone! We are ready to FLY with this week's challenge here at Oh, Alice! This week, we challenge you to use BIRDS on your card or papercrafting project! We may never know the answer to the riddle above, but while we're pondering that and life's little mysteries we may as well make a great card or two in the process, right?

And don’t forget to go the Oh! Alice Challenge blog for more inspiration.

Being Destructive

Once upon a time my very first paying job I worked at K-Mart.  One of my jobs there was working in a department they referred to as being Dept. 605.  Department 605 was the area they brought things that were broken, missing parts, open or just generally needed to be returned to the manufacturer or destroyed.  I gotta tell you I loved working in this area.  I would break out my hammer and get to breaking things and it was FUN!!  People would come back there and ask me if I was mad, I would look up with a big grin on my face wondering what they were talking about.

Lately in some of my projects I’ve been using watch parts.  Now I realize there are some places you can get watch parts already taken apart for you, but what’s the fun in that.  I have a bunch of old watches and have acquired some.  Got my small & light weight hammer out, and I’ve gotten to work.  It’s been FUN!!  This is just one of the projects I’ve made using my “being destructive” parts… hehe.

(sorry about the pic, I had already brought it to work to give as a gift because the girl was leaving that day & used my iPhone to take the photo)

JPendant

I think it turned out pretty cool.  I used Ice Resin, Watch Parts, Making Memories “brad” letter, & Pearl Ex.  It didn’t take long to do & came out awesome.

Chapter 22: Dancing under the Sea...

"Will you walk a little faster?" said the whiting to the snail;
"There's a porpoise right behind us and he's treading on my tail!
See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance!
They are waiting on the shingle, will you come and join the dance?`
Will you, won't you, will you, won't you-WILL you join the dance?"
Hello everyone! Greetings from here in Wonderland...or maybe today it's UNDERland? As in Under the Sea, perhaps ;)  So, today's challenge involves all things sea-worthy and we at Oh, Alice are challenging YOU to create a card or project using sea life! Case Yourself FFC

Case yourself.  No CASE yourself as in Copy and Share Everything.

That was our challenge for this week.  Sherry told us to go to our very first uploaded project on our blog and CASE it.  YIKES!!, right?  I started my blog three years ago, I had no idea what I was going to find.  But what I did was not as bad as what I did say 7 years ago.

My original from August 2007

ThanksSoMuch

My CASEing from today

JustBeYouI kept the same overall layout & some of the same details but I changed it up quite a bit.

I can’t wait to see what the other sassy girls did.

Persuasion

Ok, it’s time for some more insight into me.  One of my favorite authors of all time is Jane Austen.  I have read all of her novels, even her lesser known ones.  I have even read the ones that weren’t quite completed but were by others.  One of my dream vacations (the 1st one would be to go to Italy) would be to spend a month in the English countryside traveling around visiting a lot of the areas Jane Austen wrote about.

I love Pride and Prejudice I think most of all but a very close and mean very close 2nd is Persuasion.  I love the story line and of course the happy ending mainly because I could see this one happening to me.

This brings me to the latest challenge over at All Things Unity, we were to make anything but a card.  It got me to thinking so I decided to make a canvas including pages from the book with some of my favorite quotes.  I’m not quite done, there a few more things I want to do but I think you get the general idea.

Breaking All the Rules…

"At this moment the King, who had been for some time busily writing in his note-book, cackled out `Silence!' and read out from his book, `Rule Forty-two. ALL PERSONS MORE THAN A MILE HIGH TO LEAVE THE COURT.'
Everybody looked at Alice.
`I'M not a mile high,' said Alice.
`You are,' said the King.
`Nearly two miles high,' added the Queen.
`Well, I shan't go, at any rate,' said Alice: `besides, that's not a regular rule: you invented it just now.'
`It's the oldest rule in the book,' said the King.

`Then it ought to be Number One,' said Alice. "

Hello everyone!
Today we have a fun and rather rebellious challenge for all of you out there in WONDERLAND!   We start out with a lovely sketch by Sammi:
OAC21SammiSketch
The catch?  You must RE-CREATE this sketch somehow.   Switch out a panel or two, flip on its side, upside down, etc.  There are no rules except to break them, meaning you can't follow the sketch exactly!  Makes no sense right?  GOOD. :)
HA!!  If they only knew!! Just ask my girl Kelly, I’m always doing whatever I can to shake things up a bit.  LateWhiteRabbit
Now head on over to the Oh! Alice Challenge blog so you can see how everyone else has broken the rules.

You’re A Star

I can’t believe it but I actually had this card done ahead of time. If you know me at all you know get my cards done the night before. Yet lately I’ve been coloring my images ahead of time you have no idea how much this has helped me get me stuff done in advance.

Our girl Sherry who started her new job today and apparently it’s going pretty well. Her boy Alex has a birthday this week so she wanted us to make a masculine card in honor of him. As I don’t celebrate birthdays, I did make something close & definitely I believe to be masculine.

Reading in the Garden

If someone were to ask me what time period I would like to back to it would be the Victorian.  I love that era, the beauty of it all.  Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t know that I would like to stay.  I think it would be just to visit.  However, being that I am a voracious reader that part I don’t think that part would be a problem.  But as for it being long term and the limiting of cleanliness, that part I think would be a problem.

Now as for the prattle, it has to do with the card I made for the WCW sketch challenge over at Club Anya.  I decided to break out my Victorian reader.  I really have to use her more because I think I’ve fallen in lurve.

Last week I got my very order of Verve stamps.  I have been eyeing them for a while but never placed an order put I got inspired when they were doing a benefit for Susie.  I went to make a direct donation to her and then went shopping at Verve.

As soon as I got these stamps and I got Forever in Our Hearts I knew exactly what I wanted to do, it was just a matter of executing it.  Now I hope I did it with the right sketch.  I chose the one from this past week’s I {heart} 2 Stamp sketch & Verve challenge.

In My Country…

Are you ready for you weekly installment of Alice?  I sure hope so.  Here we go…

"Well, in our country," said Alice, still panting a little, "you'd generally get to somewhere else -- if you ran very fast for a long time, as we've been doing."

"A slow sort of country!" said the Queen. "Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!"

(Through the Looking Glass, Chapter 2)

WONDERLAND has gone red, white, and blue!  Yep, that's right!

Call it inspiration, a color challenge....I guess it's really both!   Your mission this week is to use RED, WHITE and BLUE on your card or project!  In addition we have a WONDERFUL Sponsorship opportunity today.  Thank you SO much to EMILY from EAD Designs!  Emily has graciously offered the DT some wonderful Alice-themed stickers to use for our projects today (unfortunately our international friends didn't get theirs in time, but hopefully we'll have stuff to show you soon!).

ONE LUCKY WINNER will receive a WONDERFULLY GENEROUS gift certificate to the EAD Designs Store!   Just get your red, white and blue on and ENTER your card here to win!

Before we get to this week's challenge, we have a few FUN announcements to make!   Sadly we say goodbye to Jimmi this week.  I can’t believe she’s leaving, though I understand & am so glad I still get to work with her on another team.  Can you tell I love this girl ?  We thank her for all her wonderfully twisty designs and will miss her at the tea table here.   We are THRILLED to announce at the same time, that Lynne Phelps has accepted a FULL TIME position here right at our twisted table.  Lynne's designs TOTALLY WOW'd us as our June Guest Designer and well, some things are JUST SO Alice that they're meant to be!  WELCOME LYNNE!

Also, as today is the first challenge of July, a BIG TWISTY welcome to EMMA EADS, our JULY GUEST!  We are very excited to have her on board with us for the month of July.   Be sure to stop by her BLOG and give her a shout out!

You have until Friday, July 9th at 8pm CST to enter your creation on the Oh! Alice Challenge blog to WIN the gift certificate from EAD Designs!  As for a little inspiration let’s start you off with this…

Hoo-Ray FFC

Are you thinking I’m doing my normal yeah it’s Friday dance?  Well you’re partly right.  I’m really doing it as a congratulations for Sherry, she got a new job.  Hopefully a lot better job then her last one (one with a better schedule a least).

That’s why she made this week’s challenge a Congratulations, Farewell or We Miss You card, yet there is a catch… it had to have a bird on it.  The name of her old company was Eagle Transport, hence the bird.  You don’t have to use an eagle just a bird.  When I was going through my sets on what to use I found the perfect set to use.

I hope you’ll play along with us as we congratulate Sherry on her new job.  Make sure you also go by her blog & leave her a little message as well.  You can also go by the other sassy girls & see what they set up for this week.

Getting Shapely

Don’t you wish it was this easy?  I sure do.  I would so put myself through my Cricut machine push a button and VIOLA!!  That would be awesome wouldn’t it?  This however has nothing to do with my body… Thank GAWD!!!

It does, however, have to do with a certain challenge that Kraftin Kimmie Stamps puts out.  It’s to make a shapely card.  With the way things have been going lately I had pre-colored quite a few images lately including one Giselle.  I checked out my Wild Card Cricut Cartridge just to see if they had one that would work for a Tea Party and I found a doily…perfect.
