ATU #41 Feeling Inspired?

Today starts another themed challenge here at All Things Unity!

This 2 week challenge is about getting inspiration from our magazines and catalogs!!! You know you have them out there, more than likely if you are anything like me you have a nice little stack or two Winking smile

Now we all know that it can all be a tad bit easier to get our inspiration from our crafty magazines, but what about say like Time or Newsweek?  I can’t say that I get these mags but my dad does so I borrowed one to see what inspired me.  Now the one pic that I did use was an ad and a little more obvious but the other that was a top contender definitely wasn’t.  I think I’ll definitely have to save it for a future project.

Here’s the picture I decided to use…

photo

I really liked the black and white simple background with the pop of color arrow.  I decided to go with the same concept.  I just turned my arrow the other direction (to give it a more positive turn).  I added a few more elements but overall but I really like the way it turned out.

ATU #40 One Layer

It’s time for another challenge.  Are you ready?

We are doing a No Layer or as some people call it one layer.  Guess it all depends on your perspective.  The point is KEEP IT VERY SIMPLE.  Think you can do it?

I was able to pull it off with a set that I thought was missing and found the other day plus I hadn’t gotten a chance to use it yet.  The even cooler part was that I was wanting to make some get well cards anyway.
StuckOnYou

I’m in Tampa this weekend at a ASL Circuit Assembly.  I’m so excited, I’ve already run into some friends I haven’t seen in a very long time.  I just might have to share more later.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to stop by the All Things Unity blog to have a chance at this month’s prize which I just happen to know is rubbah.

The Duke & I

I had a great time making this card.  It’s one of those that everything comes together better than you expect.

TheDuke&I

Ok here’s a little bit of information for you out there.  As you may know I have a new studio/craft room space.  Well, my doggie hates it.  I mean hates it.  I really don’t understand it either.  When I go in there she hovers, paces or whatever other intimidation tactic she can to get me out of there.  Usually she ends up going outside.  So recently I’ve taken to if I’m not specifically working on something and I can color, I will take stamped images into the living room.  And then she’s happy.  This was one of my pre-colored images.

To the Moon Alice!

Ok not quite but I’m actually getting to my studio a little more.  Let’s just call it therapy, LOL

Plus I was able to do a few challenges I’ve been meaning to do.

Moon&Back

I took a card base and added some very appropriate October Afternoon paper – Rocket Age.  I even got to use the Rocket Age Miscellany (the strip of words & rocket ship).  The stamp is MFT You Move Me Die-Namics & Stamp Set.   Then I used the Die-namics Star Border to not only add a border but to add some visual interest to my rocket ship, they are held on by Hero Arts rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by.

NOTE:  I realize I’m a total loser and never announced who won the tote.  I’ve decided because I’m such a loser that the first person that is also on that post that responds will win the tote but all the others will also get a prize.

Getting to Soar–ATU#34

I’m addicted and I’m not afraid to admit it.  I have grown addicted to the Extreme Glitter (Hologram) paint.  It gives such a nice finish and effect.  And unlike paper that you buy covered with glitter, it’s not rough.  Plus it’s not as hard to add extra stuff to it.

So in honor of this challenge over at All Things Unity

Butterfly

Seriously?!? Who can avoid using a little glitter with butterflies?  I mean butterflies are meant to sparkle.  They’re gorgeous!!

ButterflyGirl

ButterflyGirlClose

I hope I turned these and the pictures really show the sparkle that it added to the paper when I painted it with the Extreme Glitter.  Of course I then used foam dots & liquid scrap dots to add the rest of my project.  Stamps: KoM November 2010 – Picture Perfect, Donna Downey – She Said, KoM February 2010 – Nothing But Blue Skies

BflySympathy

Another simple one, I used my Plaid paints to setup my background.  Then I used my With Sympathy Set where I used Versafine black & a Pitt Magenta pen to color.

PlaidPrizeNow remember that you can still play with this challenge and have a chance at the Mod Podge/Plaid prize.  I’ll also pick a winner for my blog candy shortly.

Getting My Manly On

For a lot of people this tends to be a real challenge.  I’m not an exception to this fact.  I think it tends to be the fact that we just don’t have a reason or want to go in that direction.  When people do they make really cute stuff.  So we decided for this challenge round we’d get manly.PlaidPrize

Our new sponsor for this month is Mod Podge/Plaid.  As some of you may know I’ve been showcasing this past week where you can really think outside the box for using your stamps.  I’m not going to change that any today because Mod Podge products are perfect for supporting that habit.  In fact, they sent us some awesome goodies to play with… the same ones we are going to be giving away as the prize this month.

There are some really awesome products.  From the different kinds of Mod Podge to the paint brushes to the Extreme Glitter then finally to the stencils.  You can go wrong.  And it was all fun to play with.  So what did I do with it all?

I made a candy jar.  Because who doesn’t have a sweet tooth?

I got my tall jar from Hobby Lobby.  I then prepped the bottom half with Mod Podge.  Then I started adding pieces of Pattern (when I say Pattern here I mean like from a dress pattern) that I had stamped Clock, Inspired by Donna Downey, Vintage Postcard, and Lovely Lilacs.  I Mod Podged these pieces on as I went.  I then added the Green Chevron looking ribbon.  And Viola!!!  The cool thing to me is it’s got a vintage look to it but doesn’t have a very feminine feel to it.

CandyJar

Now for those that are stopping by for the giveaway that I spoke about.  I’m giving away the tote I made on Day 4 of GIU.  The catch?  Leave a comment here.  If you would like an extra entry, participate in this challenge, then come back & let me know you did.  This means that the giveaway will be open until June 26th.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Growing in Unity–Day 5

Welcome back!!

Today is going to be just a slight twist on yesterday’s project.  In fact, I’ve done this project on a canvas bag and it was totally cute.

Supplies for today’s project:

  • 1 – Tie (got mine from Mike’s for $2.99)
  • Stamps of your choice (this time it really doesn’t matter about detail
  • Ink (again with staying power)
  • DMC thread
  • Seed beads (if desired)

PuppyTie

I will give you a heads up that I won’t be posting a project tomorrow just a winner of the Unity set.  If you do come back on Sunday you can see what All Things Unity’s new challenge is (hint: today’s project is a huge clue.)

Thanks to all that have been stopping by this week!!

Growing in Unity–Day 4

We have been whipping out the projects haven’t we?  I hope you have enjoyed everything this week.  I won’t delay in today’s showcase as I had a huge delay for me in getting in posted.  Don’t you hate when that happens?

ShoppingBag

Alrighty my pretties, another easy one.  This one only involved:

1 – Canvas Bag
Stamp of choice (usually one with go spacing is best)
Ink (I used Staz On)
Heat Activated Jewels (I used Imaginisce & their I-rock tool)
or the leaves I used Maya Road straight pins where I cut the pins off

The rest is pretty self explanatory but feel free to ask questions if you need anything explained.

Growing in Unity–Day 3

Woohoo!! We’ve made it to mid week.

We’ve got another trick up our sleeve today… I don’t know why I’m speaking in plural, it’s just me, hehe!!

Today it’s a spin on a bookmark.  Although i f you want you could make it into a couple of different things, so I will be showing quite a few pictures.

Spoon

You can get a set of 4 spoons at WalMart for $.97.  I then used StazOn to stamp my image on the inside of the spoon.  You can then use your choice of filler, I used Nunn Design Gel du Soleil that I had gotten when I was at Inspired.  However you could use Ice Resin, Glossy Accents, Diamond Glaze, etc.

SpoonClose

Here’s a more close up so you can see some more of the detail.

SpoonSide

Once it all dries, bend the spoon into shape & add embellishments.

SpoonFull

Now this is where I’m going to say you can do some other things other than just bookmarks.  You could remove most of the shank of the spoon and make it into a pendant.  Or you could stamp on some words or pics then use it for makers.  That’s just to get your juices flowing.

I’m not saying this is a perfect fit for our challenge over at All Things Unity this go round but it’s close with our spoon.  Feel free to go check it out and play along with go up for the prize.

Thanks for coming over today!!
