Think Snow

Are you thinking snow?  Have you been?  I don’t know that I’ve necessarily been but it’s supposed to be getting super cold here and maybe enough to snow.  Plus I’m trying to get more & more into the habit of using more of my supplies… like more and more of my paper, and different embellishments.ThinkSnow

Stamps: Artful Inkables – Frosty Mug Mates
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Cottage Ivy
Paper: Canson Drawing Paper, PTI Kraft Paper, Paper Salon – Dazzle Blizzard
Extras: Pebbles – Ribbon, Buttons & More – Snowflake Brad, Copics, Flower Soft – Ivory, EK Success Border Punch
*Sorry for the quality of the picture I took it with my iPhone, I’m visiting my sister.

I hope everyone is enjoying their time off with their families and is having a lovely time.  Please be careful and I hope to see you all again soon.

Thick as Thieves

Not that long ago one of the girls I work with asked me to make a gift for her “sister” based on a card that she had seen on my blog. However she wanted it in an 8x10 frame. That took me a minute to think about that one because I have never converted a card to a larger work. Then she came back and asked me to include another image to be her “sister” or her. That part I thought, NO problem.

And here’s what I came up with…

Stamps: All Queen Kat Designs – Wa Loli & Bunny Chan
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Ink
Paper: Basic Grey – Wisteria, Bazzill Purple, MFT Perfect Panels
Extras: Copics, Spicas, Perfect Pearls, Currant Alcohol Ink, Purple Jewels, BH&G Frame, Mini Mister, Copic ABS System, Nestabilities

On the mat that came with the frame, I mixed some Perfect Pearls with Currant Alcohol Ink in a Mini Mister and added some water. Once filled I shook it all up and sprayed away then pounced over it with a paper towel to give it a rag effect. I really didn’t even need a heat gun because it dried so fast. I went ahead and did two layers of it, I wish you could see how much it shimmers.

YEEHAW It’s Friday!!

Gotta love it when Friday rolls around. And this is no exception. I wish I had a lot to tell you like I had a bunch of plans or something wonderful was going to happen. But I don’t. I do however have a bunch of cleaning to do around my house. I have studying to catch up on. And that’s just to name a couple. But you can always dream, right?

Goes right into the tag I made for this FFC that Jimmi gave us using the colors Yellow, Blue and Red. My colors are more muted but I had a lot of fun making this tag. It was day #8 of Tim Holtz’s tags.

Stamps: All images Unity Stamp Co – another sweet day (May 09 KoM), Fresh Beginnings (April 09 KoM)
Ink: All Distress Inks – Fired Brick, Old Paper, Shabby Shutters *yes I realize this is a green & not a blue, I goofed, Versamark, Memento Rich Cocoa
Paper: Shipping Tag that the wonderful Jimmi sent me, Chipboard, Vellum
Extras: Black & Orange/Yellow eP, golden ribbon, white acrylic, silver square brad, the music I downloaded & printed on the vellum using a laserjet

Please go see my other sassy girls, maybe their colors are better than mine.

I’M BACK BABY!!!

I’m so happy to be able to say that. You have no idea. Being without Internet since Sunday afternoon kinda makes you feel lost. Do you ever wonder what we did before we had it? I’m starting to. I mean 1st of all I wouldn’t know all of you guys. I wouldn’t have all of the awesome inspiration that I do, challenges, enabling and be able to have learned all that I did. Did I mention I wouldn’t have been able to have met you? Ok I guess that is enough.

I guess I can share with you something I made this week. I made this for a friend of mine at work, Kimmy. It’s for her boyfriend’s son, he’s 7. I’m really hoping the bow doesn’t take away from the masculineness of the robots. LOL

Stamps: MFT Love Machine
Paper: Mr. Roboto Digi Paper Pack, Cream & White Perfect Panels, Cosmo Cricket Cogsmo
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Ink Old Paper, Versafine Black
Extras: MFT Brown Ribbon, PTI Twine & Buttons, Copics, Baby Braddies, Nestabilities, Distressor, Silver Dots, TH Gears, Silver Poster Paint, Spica

Snowy Cabin FWF & FFC Style

Here we are in time for another awesome Friday. I'm only working a part day today at work which means I have a longer weekend. For those that normally are reading my blog I would like to apologize for my short absence, I was working like crazy this week which is why I'm getting a short day today. WHEW!!

As some of you may know I went out of town last weekend to some friends' cabin deep in the woods. It's in north Georgia. It was majorly relaxing (much needed) and very enjoyable. I thought I would make them a thank you card to left them know how much we appreciated this for the FWF and FFC this week. It worked out great with the sketch that Jimmi gave us to work with. And I gotta tell you the cabin that Unity has isn't that far off from the cabin we stayed at on Buckhorn Farms, which if you're ever in the area you have to check out. This is what I imagine it would have looked like if it had snowed.
Stamps: Love Builds A Home
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Soft Stone, Heidi Grace PP, Bazzill Blue, Prism SSW
Extras: Copics, Nestabilities, Hero Arts Jewels, CB Embossing Folder, Liquid Applique, Sparkly Fluff
I hope you take the time to go get inspired by my other Sassy girls and see how they used the sketch Jimmi put out.

Snowy Royal Monday

It’s another Royal Monday and I hope you really enjoyed what Anita had to show you. If you didn’t come here from her blog you may want to go back to the Queen Kat blog to start the hop.

Yet another snowy card using a sketch. This weekend we went to a cabin in North Georgia and were totally hoping it would snow. According to my dad it did snow a little Saturday morning but it didn’t stick. It was plenty cold enough. Which brings back around to my card, my nephew running around all bundled up. This stamp reminded me of him.

Stamps: Bundled Up, Happy Holly Days
Ink: Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Heidi Grace Snow, PTI Soft Stone, Bazzill Blue
Extras: Stampendous Pewter eP, Nestabilities, Sparkly Fluff, scrap paper, Threading Water punch, scrap ribbon, Copics

Now you really have to go see what Ashley has for you.

Now on a personal note. When I was in Middle School and High Alaba_7285School, I was a HUGE football fan. SEC football that is. My team has always been Alabama…. ROLL TIDE ROLL!! I used to sit in the radio listening to the games so I wouldn’t miss anything. My dad & I used to have so much fun watching them. After I moved here, Georgia, I didn’t watch so much but this Saturday when they played Florida, I so watched. I can’t wait til the championship game.

FWF FFC Becomes a Tag Junkie

I am going to admit I love trying new stuff. Which means I love following Claudine Hellmuth, Tim Holtz and Suze Weinberg. In case you don’t know already Tim Holtz is doing his yearly 12 tags of Christmas and just because I don’t celebrate Christmas doesn’t mean I enjoy the mess outta watching him and playing along.

Here’s my take on day 2, although I gotta say I had to make some of my stuff to look like Tim Holtz. I’ll explain at the end.

Stamps: All Unity Stamps – Simply Magical (Nov KOM), Rows of Yummies,
Ink: Versafine Black, Distress Ink Old Paper & Black Soot, Versamark
Paper: Manila Folder & MFT Perfect Panels
Extras: Antique Linens Distress Powder, Perfect Pearls, Red Smooch, Copics, Copper Metal Sheet, Chipboard, Sizzix Corners, Corner Distresser, Red Ribbon, SU Ticket Punch

OK, I didn’t have any tags & couldn’t find any at Walmart. What was I do do? I found out of what size they needed to be cut them out of manila folders & used my SU Ticket Punch to make them….VIOLA!! Then I didn’t have the Metal Corners he used, so I started thinking what did I have? I have metal sheets & a sizzix punch(?) for corners…AH HA!! I felt I was all good. I really like how it turned out.

The Friday Challenge for this month is also coming from Jimmi. She says that November & December are big months for EATING! and food which is why I used the rows of yummies on my card plus I thought it really played into the sentiment. Now ya gotta go see what the other girls made to make ya hungry today…

Aren’t They SO Cute?

I may not like the cold but that doesn’t mean I don’t like things that look cute in snow. Especially when it comes to these new Pure Innocence stamps. I think they are just adorable.

When the challenge came for My Favorite Things to use Kraft (yeah, like that was hard… gotta love that PTI Kraft) for a shot at a Guest Design Team spot. I went for it. I especially like making fringe for the scarf with my DMC floss thread, it’s not like I don’t have plenty from my cross stitch days.

Stamps: MFT Pure Innocence – Snow Day, Flurry of Love, Cool Yule
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Kraft, MFT Perfect Panels, SEI Juliette
Extras: UTEE, Copics, Liquid Appliqué, Spicas, Mike’s Dollar Jewel Word, Crystal Embellies, DMC Floss, CB Embossing Folder, Glitter, Pebbles Inc. Ribbon, Sparkle Fluff

Black Friday FFC

It's Black Friday so our challenge today was an easy one. Use mainly black & white with an accent color. I used red (I would like to say I was genius enough to think ahead and was incorporating with it was when they went from the red into the black...but NOT!!!).

If you're here looking for the FWF (Friends with Flair post) scroll down one. Thanks

I know everyone is having fun shopping today, but when you're ready for some more BLACK Friday inspiration you can check out my other girls stuff.

Black Friday FWF...

for me I'm making it a rewind. And today when I say rewind I mean a review of some projects I made in the past. I apologize I don't have more because I just haven't been feeling good the past few days. I haven't even been near my craft room :( I'm hoping to get in there today. Enough of the down -ing & back to the FWF. Here is your blast from the past.

Please come back later for my Friday Fun Challenge post.

Day 2 of the Party

We are still partying hard this week.  Today's challenge is a sketch made up by our Queen Vicki.  Don't know if you know this about her but she's fab at doing up sketches.  She's done up so many.  Now I'm just giving you a teaser over here because all the real information will be over at the QKD blog.

I will tell you this though.  I will be giving away as a prize for my challenge one of the new stamps.  That’s right NEW STAMP!!!  You don’t have to use a Queen Kat Stamp if you don’t have any but we’d appreciate it if you do.  Now get over to the QKD blog for more details.

Monday, November 16, 2009

Let’s Get This Party Started

We’re partying all week long here at Queen Kat. We decided to do challenges through the week so that you can win prizes. When I say prizes I mean stamps. So you if you’ve been wanting to try out Queen Kat stamps here’s your chance to win some. How awesome is that?

The first challenge is from Queen Vicki herself. She’s challenging you in a color challenge. Pink, purple, grey & white… the colors of Queen Kat itself. You have until Monday 23rd to upload a sample of your work using the keyword QKDSR01. If you upload to your blog too then you can get an extra entry. Just make sure you put you add a link to your blog on QKD blog once you’ve done it so we can count you.

I hope you came from Anita's blog and her wonderful sample, if not you may want to start at the beginning of the hop at the QKD blog.

Here’s my take on the challenge…

Stamps: Wa Loli
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Misc Basic Grey, GA Pacific White, SU Textured CS, PTI Sweet Blush
Extras: Prisms, OMS, Copics, Nestabilities, Spicas

I also went out on a limb and did something a little different when I saw this on Suze W. blog the other day. I just didn’t make a pendant. I made a paper weight. It matches the card quite nicely.

Now make sure you go see what MY Ash made this week for some more inspiration. And just in case you missed anyone this week, here's the entire list of the blog hop.

HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!

We are going to be introducing a new designer/artist….
New stamps (of course)…
Plus I know there will be giveaways!!

Just to get in the mood a little more, here’s a card I made using a stamp from the last release… I can’t give everything away.

I used the challenge from Embellish Magazine (use red, yellow, green & blue with brads) along with the latest Limelight Papercrafts sketch.

Now make sure you come back Thursday the 19th for all the fun & prizes!!

So this week when Christi challenged us to make a place card, which I had never done. I started thinking what on earth am I going to make a place card for? My parents’ anniversary isn’t until the first of January and I have no idea what we’re doing this year yet. But then I spied my new stamps from My Favorite Things and I had to use them.

Getting Sketchy With It

It's time for another Royal Kat Monday Blog Hop.  And it's time to get sketchy with it.  Hopefully you should be coming from the amazing Anita's blog.  Now I did use a Royal Kat sketch just not the one you'll see on everyone else's blog.  I had a super busy weekend where I pulled a 14 hour day on Saturday.  We had a blast, I was just in full recovery mode on Sunday.  I had had the foresight to do a card on Friday but being the goober that I am I just used the wrong sketch...DOH!!!

BunnyGirl Isn’t she super cute with her little bunny?  You should go check her out and all kinds of new stuff we have in the store including the November Kits (perfect for scrapbookers and stampers).

If you want to see what my girl Ashley did with the real sketch you can go see on her blog.

If you feel you’ve gotten lost or want to go back and look at some of the projects that you’ve already seen here’s the entire list for today.

Intergalactic Planetary

I didn’t get to do much crafting this weekend, but that’s ok.  When I was up helping my sister shoot a wedding over the weekend I didn’t get to see Liam for that long either.  However the time we did get to spend together was full of giggles.  One part of it was when we went into his room to play.  He put on his CD, then this song began to play he says “Hang on I like this song” and then starts it over and busts into a dance.  I was cracking up so bad… it was too much!!  I had to grab my camera and take this.

Taking A Moment

This week has been a very sad one as fellow crafter Sarah Anderson’s 3 year old son Henry passed away. Little Henry was unable to overcome a virus that made him ill last week.

I personally am heartbroken at the thought of this happening to someone so young. I won't personalize it because it's not about me. However I will say this please tell those that are close to you that you love them and give them big/huge hugs.

Lorie Ames has organized a way to donate for a memorial for Henry. Henry loved his local zoo and visited it almost every day in the summer. As a memorial, trees will be planted there in his honor. Melissa at Pink Cat Studio has created a digital stamp to help raise funds for a tree for Henry. All proceeds from the sale of the digi stamp, minus Paypal costs, will go towards the tree. If you would like to donate towards the tree, please visit this webpage to purchase the digi stamp: http://www.pinkcatstudio.com/Digital/DigiStamps/Animals/Zoo/GiraffeAndMonkey.htm
Another way to donate to the memorial is to print out this form and mail in your donation directly: http://www.ci.oshkosh.wi.us/Parks/PDF/MemorialTreePamphlet.pdf

Please write on the form that the donation is for Sarah Anderson’s son Henry. Once all of the money is collected, a tree and location will be selected. If you have questions about the form please contact Lorie Ames. Lorie will be in contact with Sarah along this memorial journey to ensure that her wishes are followed.
To contact Lorie, please visit her blog at http://www.live-love-laugh-create.blogspot.com/

If you don’t know Sarah and would like to learn more about her, please visit her blog: http://scrampinmama.blogspot.com/

Thank you for your help to raise money for a tree for Henry.

I'll try to be back later with a sample of what I created with the digi stamp.

Now That We Found Love

When I was in high school I was a big hip hop/rap fan. In fact that's about all I listened to. I know this isn't a big indication of that but one of my favorites was and still is by Heavy D & the Boyz (yes I realize I'm showing my age) named Now That We Found Love.

Now you may be asking yourself why is she on this rant. Well this week's challenge for MFT's SYTCS was Hip Hop. I had a fun with the idea but had to figure out what to do, this is what I came up with.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Bella Backup

If any of you were reading my blog yesterday you knew I was in the Chichiboulie Blog Hop. Well as I went to go make the card with the stamp I knew I had you can imagine my surprise when it wasn't in my binder. I searched HIGH and low and couldn't find her anywhere. What was a girl to do? Before I came up with the great idea I did which was just to use the pink sample sheet that Stamping Bella sends with the stamps I had decided to make a back up because let's face it I was starting to freak out a little. I was going to be the break in the chain and who wants to be that? Here's my Backup Chichi card as a kind of blog hop hangover.
Stamps: Perk Me Up Daisy Outline, Have A Sunshiney Day
Paper: PTI Soft Stone, Prism SSW, Basic Grey Urban Prairie
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Extras: Copics, Nestabilities, Mike's $1 Ribbon, Jewels (K&Co & Zva)

One pre-selected blogger will draw a random winner from the comments on her post, and the winner will receive a $25 Gift Voucher to Stamping Bella!!! WOOHOO FUN!!!

Ok that's all I have. I'm so tired lately that I think that took all the energy I have left. If you have any energy to spare I would to borrow some. Or if you would like to share a drink with me that would be good to. In fact that's the direction I took my Friday Fun Challenge this week. We were supposed to use the colors brown, green, purple and orange. And if you could use the colors without making a halloween card you get bonus points.

The best part is that Christi Snow is joining our Sassy Girls of Friday Fun Challenges!! We are all so happy she's joining us.

Now onto my creation...

Now if you want to check out the creation that I'm doing for Queen Kat today, it will be on their blog a little later today.

So Do You Think

Do you think you can stamp? That's what we've been asked for the last 3 weeks by My Favorite Things and the challenges haven't been getting any easier. There should be 3 more weeks with a culmination to the Grand Finale. This week was the Waltz and this one took me a little outta my box. I was pushing my stamps out of theirs as well. This is what I made at first.

However when I was done I just was satisfied with the way it looked. It just seemed to missing something BIG TIME!!! So I stepped way and got to thinking about because I really didn't want to remake the whole thing and this is what I came up with.

By the time I was done, I LOVED IT!!!
Stamps: Gone to the Dogs, Ben Paper Dolls
Paper:
PTI Soft Stone, Perfect Panels, Memory Box Butterfield Collection, Sprinkles Vellum, Bazzil CS
Ink:
Memento Tuxedo Black
Extras:
PTI Twine, Foof a La Button, Copics, Prisma, Bazzil Flower, Word Window Punch, Computer Generated Sentimen, Shimmerz Silver Bellz, Prism Bling
If you would like to see the other awesome competition that I'm up against and I mean it's stiff you can see it here.
