Glamour Girls

My hairstylist is going through a pretty rough time and is going through a divorce. She's really into old Hollywood, at least that's the way she has her room set up for her shop. To help cheer her up a little I thought I would make her this to go in her room.

This is a close up of the eyes of the girls. I thought the eyes turned out really cool. I used a Sharpie Poster Marker in silver to color in the glasses and then went over them with glossy accents.

Good Friends

You know there are just some people that over the years of knowing them that know matter how many years apart you can just be with them again and it doesn't seem to matter you can pick up like there was no time apart at all.

That's what it's was like when we just saw one of my good friends Jamie. She lives in Oklahoma however when we first moved here in 1996 we were the best of friends. She moved to Oklahoma to get to know her now husband, Mike, better. We really haven't seen each other in four years since her brother got married.

I am so glad that we got to see her and hate that we can't see her more than we used to.

Congratulations Grad

I had a request from my boss to make a graduation card for someone she knows so this is what I came up with. As you can tell I've been on a creative binge the last couple of days.

Stamps: Bella Diplomabella, MFT Essential Sentiments; Paper: Mod PP, SU Certainly Celery, Rose Red; Ink: Charcoal, SU Basic Black; Other Supplies: Threading Water Punch, Nesties, Doodlbug Tokens, Misc Token, Key, Art Institute Glitter, Copics, Walmart Ribbon

I've Been Challenged

Dody came up with this fabulous challenge where every month you get sent the pieces for a card then you have to make a card from what you have and the directions. It's not as easy as it sounds.

For June we had to use two of the images she sent us, the PP, ribbon, hardware. We could only use rich regals CS & ink. And then you had to think of the 1st technique we learned & use it (for me it was heat embossing). Here's what I came up with.
For July, we could only use the colors Almost Amethyst, Blue Bayou, Close to Cocoa. We could only use the images that she sent however we could alter them anyway we wanted. Use the PP, ribbon, & square clip hardware. If we wanted we could add a one-line word stamp & a background image. The only things I used to alter things were Walnut Ink & Glimmer Mist. I also used MFT Essential Sentiments for my one-line word stamp. Then I also used my Copic to go around the horses to outline them and give them definition.

I'm Here For You

A lot of us out there suffer from depression. It's something that I've suffered from for years. I have so many friends that have dealt with it and even family members. I am now on medication that helps me stablize my moods. I know that for some this has become a touchy subject over the years but for me I know that I couldn't make it without some sort of help and I know for me this helps. And what works for you doesn't always work for others no matter how much you want it to.

However that's not really the purpose for this post. The purpose for this post is sometimes people just need to know that you are there for them. A hug, a thought, a laugh or whatever...even if it's just virtual. So here's my vitural hug to all of you that read my blog and know that I'm here for you {{{HUGS}}}.

Stamps: MFT Essential Sayings & Shower Time, Hanna Rainy Day; Ink: SU Basic Black, Charcoal Gray; Paper: Autumn Leaves Rhonna Farrer, Bazzil, ? White, SU Pink; Other: Copics, CB Embossing Folder, Art Institute Glitter, Baubles

I've Done It!

I can't believe it!! I've made my first sale on my craft stuff. Well technically that's not entirely true, when I was in grade school I used to sell jewelry. Yet this is entirely different. I wasn't even looking for it. Someone at work saw one of my cards and wanted me to make a bunch of them for a baby shower. I was so excited. This is the finished one...

So, what do you think?

Making Pretty Baubles

So when my Internet was down last weekend I was at a District Convention for Jehovah's Witnesses so I wasn't entirely worried about it. For one of my outfits I wanted to make an necklace/earrings set to go with it and when I had been in Savannah a few weeks ago I had gotten some stones I thought would be great. So this is what I came up with (unfortunately I don't have a pic with me in it...sorry)

I believe the stones are rhodalite for those that are interested.

I'm Not MIA!!

I not it seems that way but I promise I'm not. I have a good excuse this time. Last Friday my Internet went out and it wasn't until Tuesday that they were able to get it fixed. Gotta love it!

Another Name

No I've not decided to go by another name although sometimes I swear I wish I could change my name. I made another name frame. This time it was for a girl at work...well her daughter anyway. Michele helps me with my taxes and doesn't charge me anything and I usually do something for her as a thank you. This year this was my thank you.

Paper: Paper Studio - Floral Linen; Letters: Basic Grey; Ribbon: American Crafts, May Arts; Flowers: Primas; Other: Acrylic Paint, UTEE (after painting the letters, I went over them with UTEE to give them a different texture...they are all nice and shine-y with a little glitter), Darice Jewel, WalMart Frame. I also put the letters on pop dots to give it a little more.

Darn, I'm home

WARNING: This is a long post!
After the wedding on Friday Abra and I headed out for Savannah for a very relaxing weekend that I think we both needed and deserved. Although we both thought we might try eating at Lady & Sons restaurant and quickly got thrown out the window because we didn't wake up on time Saturday morning to get in line for the reservations (you have to be in line by 9:30 a.m to start making reservations). Needless to say we didn't quite make it. Instead we made a nice lesiurely start where we made our way downtown, wondered around, took pictures, and then did something we had never done... took a tour bus around Savannah. The great thing is that it was air conditioned. It was also very informative. We learned all kinds of little tid bits. We also went back in the car to a couple of spots and took more pictures. For example to this one church where it had Jehovah's name on the front...

First the more artist shot...
Then the more straight on shot...

We also went to a few of the shops along Broughton and one of them was this really cool place called The Paris Market, it reminds me alot of Anthropologie. It was so nice that we actually took pictures in there, Abra even took one with me in it but I looked like the other sister so you don't get to see that one.

And this I got off the Clearance Table, I fell in love with it. It reminds of something Jennifer Peebles would get.
After all our ventures we went back to the room to change so we could go eat. One of my favorite places to eat is Bella's, which is Italian. After eating we couldn't decide what we wanted to do so we decided we wanted to get drinks and taking them back to our room. However you try to find a Liquor store open at 10:00 pm on a Saturday night is another thing.
Then we finally found a hole in the wall place, where we got some liquor.

Then somebody got the idea they wanted to go on a Krispy Kreme run. You should have seen the looks we were getting from the people inside.

Sunday

Another sleep in day, then after we finally we got up, packed up and checked out. We headed back downtown so I could get my seafood before leaving town. We went to Shrimp Factory where I got this awesome drink, the Chatham Artillery Punch...very potent.
Now Abra doesn't like this picture but I think it looks very good.

Then we decided to go get some taffy...

And pose behind a cutout...After we finished piddling around here and getting sunglasses, we headed to Tybee Island aka the beach.

I love this shot of me. I'm sure if I analyzed I would find something about it that I didn't like but I really do like it.

Then we had to go home...boo hoo!! Too bad we had to go home.

I'm Running Away

Haha!! So my sister and I are running away tomorrow. We're going to Savannah, we used to go there all the time but we haven't been there in a while. We are even planning on chilling out at the beach and trying to go to Lady & Sons. FUN!! I really haven't gone away were I just got to relax in a while so I plan to really enjoy this and really appreciate my sister for suggesting this. In case I've never mentioned it she has a tendency to RAWCK!!!

Two Hearts

The girl I made the banner for is getting married tomorrow. As I mentioned before their colors for the wedding are purple/green so that is the reason for the colors on the card.
