Loss of a Great Friend

Before anyone freaks out, it's not me. Thank you for worrying though (don't deny it you know you did just a little bit). A good friend of mine at work just had to put down her dog of I wanna say 14 years. I wanted to make her a small something to let her know that I understand and that I know I'm there for her.
Stamps: Rubber Romance - Ally and her dog, MFT - Essential Sentiments
Ink: Memento London Fog, Palette Noir Black
Paper: Prism SSW, Basic Grey - June Bug, Misc White CS
Accessories: Flower Soft - Ivory, Baubles, Copics, Primas & Center, Nestabilities
I put in the the middle a quote that I thought would be good. It says "If you have a dog, you will most likely outlive it; to get a dog is to open yourself to profound joy and, prospectively, to equally profound sadness."

One Crazy Busy Weekend

I had a blast this weekend and it all started Friday night...

Friday
We had a meet & greet at Dee Jackson's house. It started out all innocent where we were just going to sit around and chitchat eat and well just be friendly. HAHAHAHA!!! You get a bunch of stampers together what do you think is going to eventually happen? You got that right, we pulled out some stamps.
We did some "pre"-playing. You see Deb, Liz, & Gerrie (well some of Lisa too) trying out & demoing the KSS stamps.

Saturday

We had about 17 people that came from the class spanning from CA, TX, IL, AL, FL & of course GA. It was so much not only getting to see people that I had met before but getting to know/meet people I hadn't met yet. On top of that it was a wonderful day of stamping & learning new techniques. A huge thanks to the wonderful ladies in the next two pictures for all they did in getting the workshop together.KSS Owner, Maria Colosimo and her best friend extraordinaire Traci.
Us paying rapt attention so we get every little tidbit
Then we got to work. Until we stamped our poor little fingers to the bone. lol

Sunday

You would think that would be all, right? OH HOW WRONG YOU ARE!!! Lisa, Maria & Traci met up with me on Sunday for lunch and a tour of Macon so they could see the "true South". They wanted to see antebellum houses and other such Southern charms. Here are Lisa & Traci relaxing on the porch at the local Law School.I really hated to see the weekend end but I was totally exhausted. In fact, I did take a nap this day. I hope to see everyone again because I had so much fun!!

Will You Go With Me?

Unity is having a challenge over the next 7 weeks starting this week featuring their bachelor Bro. There's a huge prize up for the grand prize not to mention the weekly prizes. This week's challenge was make an invitation for a date with the guy you love (or Bro). His favorite colors are red, black & green.
Stamps: Unity Stamp Co - Middle School Madness, Martini Mania
Paper: Basic Grey - Perhaps, PTI Kraft, Prism SSW, back of Index Card
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Ink Weathered Wood
Accessories: Copics, Tonic Distressor
I know that I "promised" that I would be back with more information/pictures from my Kitchen Sink Stamp Weekend. However I have quite a bit to go through and after running with the girls all over town this morning showing them around, going to the Kingdom Hall, & then coming home for a nap...I've kinda run out of time. So how about a sneak peek?

FFF & FFC

Apparently I was totally off with last week's FWF (it was something I had made up in my head alone)...OOOPPPPSSSS. It's not Friends With Flair, it's Friday Friends with Flair.

I went on a search on what our FFF could possibly mean instead...
Fight for Freedom
Far from Finished
Family Friends Fools (hey, this kinda might fit us)
Fast Fun & Friendly...HEHEHE!!

Ok, that's enough...on to the projects for today. For today's FFF we have this lovely.
Stamps: Lovely Lilacs
Ink: Unity Burnt Umber
Paper: PTI Kraft & Chocolate
Other: Flower Soft, Copics (including ABS), Scrapworks Tab, Fake Baubles, Wire, Tacky Glue, Michael's Wedding Flowers

Hey Baby!!

Are you ready for another project? I do believe this is last one for a little for a while anyway. I made this for a friend of mine but I don't want her to see it yet and I know she's read my blog in the past. I'll let you check it out and let me know what you think.
Supplies: An amalgam of many different things. Most of the papers are from my scrap box but they are all baby themed and for the most part matching. The tokens are MM & stickers are Jolenes. The brown that you see along the edges is Heidi Swapp decorative tape. The ribbon is brown from MM I believe. Oh & finally the box is a papier mache from Hobby Lobby.

Whiff of Joy Guest Designer Call

On a whim and being a glutton for punishment I thought I might try out for the Whiff of Joy Guest Designer Call. And, yes this is another one of my projects. So let's dive right in shall we (Note: because there are going to be quite a few pictures in this post I'm posting them at a smaller size but you should be able to click on them and see them larger for more detail if you like)...

It's a mobile of sorts showing the four seasons
I used so many things on this it's going to be more what I didn't use however I will list as much as I can at the end of the post. OHHH, and yes it does spin around.
Stamps: (All images I stamped originally on Neenah paper and scanned in so I could scale them down to fit on the blocks) Willow with Flower Basket, Willow with Sunhat, Fall Willow with Grapes, Fall Willow holding Baby Turkey
Paper: Neenah White Paper
Coloring Tools: Copics, Shimmerz (Mello Yello, Silver Bellz, Bamboo), Glimmer Mist Terra Cotta
Cutting Tools: Nestabilities, Leaf Punch, Snow Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (these were used as masks & ways to add texture to blocks as backgrounds)
Misc: Wood blocks, white acrylic paint, foam brush handle, wood base, ball end, screws, Daisy Primas, White Satin Ribbon

Swept Away

I have to warn you there is not as much stamping in this as you may think. I've been playing around with this idea in my head for a while and finally decided to run with it. You know all those acrylic/acetate sheets that come with your stamps, well here's a new way to use them. That's right the main image you see there is NOT stamped. Cool right? On one side I colored in with Copics & Shimmerz. On the other side (if you don't do on the other side you will muddle everything up) I pounced on some alcohol ink with my Tim Holtz applicator. Then I put some white cardstock underneath & VIOLA!! I have to say I LOVE IT!!
Stamps: Queen Kat - Janice, Vintage Time, Gina K - Love You to Pieces Heart
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Color Box Cat Eyes Deep Green, Warm Violet, Versamark
Paper: Grey CS, GA Pacific White
Misc: Tonic Edge Distressor, Clear eP, Copics, Shimmerz Silver Bellz, Alcohol Ink (slate, mushroom, caramel, currant, silver), MM Silver Ribbon, WM Token, Safety Pin

No Place Like Home

I got some new images a little while ago and got to play with them but am just getting a change to post it now. Isn't it just classic? It makes me think of this picture or this. And you know I had to make it have Dorothy shoes. I'm also addicted to the "new" Shimmerz technique.
Stamps: Queen Kat Designs - Vintage Time, Hello Honey
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Palette L'amour Red, Versamark
Paper: Black CS, GA Pacific White, Bo Bunny Midnight Paisley, WM Scrap Pack
Misc: Shimmerz Truffle, Glimmer Mist Golden Terracotta, We R Memory Keepers Grommet, PTI Ribbon, Spica Clear
Because the base is black I had to do the inside...
Stamps: Queen Kat Designs - Vintage Time
Paper: Black CS, GA Pacific White
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Misc: MS Doily Punch

Craft Time

Last week when Liam was down he wanted to come over and hang out with me. He had a bunch of coloring sheets of dinosaurs that he had downloaded from www.pbskids.org (he loves this site!!). I had him load up his sheets & markers and off to my craft room we went. Since I rearranged my room it was the perfect setup for us to both "work" and get stuff done. I set him up at his table (I even had him where he was watching a movie) and I was at mine. There we were just coloring, when he turns around and tells me "I just love it when we hang out like this and work"... How cute is that?

Not long after that he came to check out my coloring (I guess to make sure I was still within the lines). He liked what I was coloring better I guess because he wanted to color the same thing, of course I gave him one. I asked him what he wanted to do with it when he was done coloring it. He told me make it into a card like you of course!! What was I thinking?

Here are our finished projects...The cutie patootie with his. The only thing I did was to cut the paper to card size, he picked out the paper. He choose to put the flowers on and where.
Stamps: Dorothy Anya (Digital)
Paper: PTI Kraft, GA Pacific White, Jillibean Soup - Lentil Soup - Ground Grains of Paradise
Tools: EK Success Punch, Nestabilities, Copics, Fluff, Sparkly Fluff, Mushroom Alcohol Ink
Embellishment: Possibilities Sticker

Friday Fun Challenge...HMMMM

As you can see my Friday Fun Challenge is being posted a little late so late that's it's turning slightly into a Saturday Fun Challenge. But I did work on most it on Friday and if I didn't insist on doing something so big it would have been done already. You see Kimme challenged us this week remember heroes. You see I have some good friends that work at a Volunteer Fire Department in Pensacola, Florida (technically right next to it). Well, there son that is 4 as you can imagine is really big into firemen and has it all over his room. I've been wanting to make him a name frame with the Rescue Ian and this gave me the extra push to do it.
Sorry for the angle of the picture in advance but I was trying to keep from getting a glare.
Stamps: Rescue Ian
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Real Red & Pumpkin Pie, Unity Burnt Umber
Paper: Basic Grey - Fusion - Solar Ray, Bazzil Monochromatics in Red, Yellow & Sienna, Prism Simply Smooth White
Other: Glimmer Mist - Golden Terracotta, Copics, Gel Glitter Pens, MS Red Glitter, Xyron, Tim Holtz Foam Pad, Chipboard letters (not sure brand)
The flames are a line drawing I downloaded off the internet & printed on the Bazzil paper & cut out.
So when is ok for a boy's name to be in all glitter? When it's by flames, right? I hope so ;)

Play Date

I had my very first play date as a grown up. My nephew was down this weekend and we got together with some friends of ours to go to the park. I'm friends with their parents and he the kids. We had a really good time, they were there for 2 hours, running and playing the entire time. I swear I don't know how they do it!! I wish I had some of it. I mean I know we did once but we should really be able to have it when we can really take advantage of it.
While you ponder that, here are a few of my favorite pics from our "date".

I'm So Happy

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.netIT'S FRIDAY!! IT'S FRIDAY!!Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net
It seems like it's been a really long week and I'm happy that it's over. I'm also happy that we get a 3-day weekend. WOO-HOO!!

You know what today is, yeah I know I already told you it's Friday, but it's also Friday Fun Challenge time. It's also a new month which means we have a new hostess, Kimme. She challenged us this week to make something school inspired but that wasn't all we also had to use office/school supplies in some way, stamp of school books, spiral or tab punches, mini folders, etc. Here's what I came up.
Stamps: All images are Unity Stamp Co - Worn Stars, Hearts of Old, Hodgepodge of Happiness, Following my Heart (Aug KOM), Another Sweet Day (May KOM); Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Rich Cocoa, SU Pink Passion, Summer Sun, Taken with Teal; Paper: PTI Kraft, SU Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal, Pink Passion, Prism SSW; Other: Copics, Nestabilities, Tonic Distresser, Gold Star & Antiqued eyelets, PTI Twine, Fiskars Threading Water Punch, Swirl Clip, McGill's Mini Folder Punch, Yellow Grosgrain, CB Embossing folder Distressed Wood
Isn't that backpack the cutest? I got the technique on SCS if you want to make one yourself. Now if you're wondering about the bright colors because these are colors I wouldn't normally go with, they are this weeks Color Combo Challenge. Well, not quite because I didn't have exactly the colors but they're close enough for me.

I hope you all have a wonderful LONG weekend. If you play along with us you can use the keyword FFC47 to upload your work to SCS. For more ideas and inspiration, check out my other sassy girls...

I got this challenge to do this and I kinda went out on a limb on this one. It took me a lot longer than usual to make and I pulled out a few elements I don't normally do. In the end I'm not sure I like it. You never can tell where your projects will go.
