Unity One Year Anniversary Celebration

It's been a week long celebration and it's still going on. All kinds of prizes and challenges, not to mention fun. Yesterday Maren's challenge was to use a picture of one of the cakes found in this flickr account to inspire you. Here's the cake I choose. I decided to go white on white which seems to be a trend right now.
Stamps: Unity Stamp Co - Fresh Beginnings; Ink: Versamark, SU Creamy Caramel; Paper: GPW; Other: EK Success Punch, CB D'Vine Folder, White eP, May Arts Ribbon, Metallic rub on, stick pin

One Last Hurrah

Ok, for those that don't know the reason that I've been missing isn't cause I've wanted to be gone. I have an extruding disc which means I'm in a lot of pain when I sit or stand for prolonged amounts of time. The long and short of it I'm having back surgery Thursday and will be recovering for 4-6 weeks. Now I don't know that this will mean that I will be out of my craft room for that long (they may have to commit me to a loony bin if it does). I figured I would grit my teeth and at least make one card because it's...

Couple of Things

I went for my myelogram yesterday and for me it was horrific and I experienced some of the most excruciating pain I have ever had. Then I woke up today to what they call a myelogram headache that lasted most of the day. But I really haven't come on here to complain. The doctor's office called to let me know already what the results are.

I will have to have a bilateral microdiscectomy plus a mini fusion with an aspen clamp. Now I might have some of this wrong because when she called I was asleep (trying to get rid of the splitting headache). I will have to be in hospital for 1-2 days with a recovery time of 6 weeks.

On to happier topics... one of the blogs I follow Design*Sponge posted some videos by an artist by Lisa Hannigan. For all of use paper crafters out there it is really impressive. I think you should go check it out.

For those of you that like blog candy Bev at All the Things I Love is giving away some major stuff, including nesties and whiff of joy stamps.

ETA: My friend just sent me this video. If any of you grew up on Sound of Music like I did you might appreciate this. I thought is was so cool and I would have loved to have been there. Sound of Music Train Station

Friday Fun!!

Are you up for a challenge? Cause I haven't really. Mine is slightly postponed. I hopefully will have it up this afternoon. However if you want to play along this week's challenge is to use polka dots. To be honest, I had made a card earlier this week for this challenge but I accidentally posted it early so I want to make another one.

Go check out the other girlie girl's to see what they came up with this week...

Club Anya Blog Hop

I have to admit I had the best time making these, however I'm not going to get very wordy because I know you are here for the Hop. Make sure if you are coming straight here to go back to Club Anya's blog to see what everyone else made. I'm positive it's awesome.
Stamps: Dorothy Anya, And for the life of me I can't remember where I got the Gingerbread House, Best Mates; Ink: Almost None!!! I went mostly digital baby, Memento Tuxedo Black; Paper: Archiver's Lilac, Neenah, Digital printed on GA Pacific White; Other: Ticket Corner, Silver stickers, Copics, Michael's Cupcake ribbon, nesties, prismas
Ok, my next one is my more out of the box one...do you kinda recognize it?
It's Dorothy Anya again but different... did you ever have one of those toys where it you could twist the face, then twist the torso and so on to mismatch what you saw? That's kinda what I did. I used Dorothy's head with Ian's body and hat to make this. I had so much fun making this.

Stamps: Digital Dorothy Anya, Hello Ian; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Rich Cocoa; Paper: Archiver's Kraft & Apple Green & Dark Brown, Digital paper printed on GA Pacific White, Neenah; Other: Irridescent ribbon, copics, Target $1 spot brads

Peeping Sally

I thought about calling it Peeping Tom but we're not Toms, so I thought we should be Sallys. It's time for Unity Addicts Challenge. My sweetie Taylor challenged us this week to make a 4.25 square card. For some reason I thought of this and I just had to make it into a window.

Stamps: Unity Stamp Co - Simple Life (March KOM), Endings & Beginnings (Feb KOM), Enjoy Your Story...Laugh (Nov KOM); Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Paper: Neenah, K&Co from Target, DCWV Far East; Other: Eclipse Tape, Copics, Gold Stickers, Glitter pen

Than Never Part 2

Here's day two of my motto. Kimme's challenge for the first week of April was to make a card using floral stamps. The funny thing was she said if we weren't a flowery person we should all have a couple in our stash. HAHAHAHAHAHA I have so many in my stash it's no even funny. I have a thing for flowers, I just don't always get a chance to use them. Here's what I got...
Stamps: Flourishes - Poppies; Paper: 7 Gypsies - Dictionary, DCWV - Far East, Neenah; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Other: Nesties, Copics, MS Butterfly Punch, Shimmerz Silver Bells
Here's another view so you can see the Shimmerz better.

Better Late Pt. 1

At least that is going to be my motto for the next couple of days. I've missed the last couple of Friday Fun Challenge and considering this is Kimme introductory challenges (other than her 1st one), I feel really bad that I missed them. Other than I feel really bad that I've missed them anyway. Here's the challenge for last week, to use purple...I really love this image. I got it from the PIF group on Splitcoast Stampers. The only problem was that when I got it was when we were getting our deluge of rain and apparently my mailbox collects water. I was able to salvage most of the images I was sent except for a couple of them, this being one of them. Then I got the bright idea of why don't I do the cracked glass effect on it and it will help hide the imperfections.
Stamps: Sugar Nellie - Catch a Falling Star; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Paper: Neenah, Scrapworks, Misc Purple; Other: Nesties, Copics, Scrapworks Label, Michael's Ribbon, May Arts Ribbon, Charm, UTEE, Hemp
Now I know it's not Friday but if you want you can go check out my girls' blogs and see what they've created...

I {heart} chocolate

that's what I'm naming this post, it was either that or in the immortal words of the Monty Python boys "I'm Not Dead Yet". Although I've had no motivation or mojo to even go into my craft room lately I made myself go in there today and I managed to crank out three cards, this being one of them.
Stamps: My Cute Stamps - Sweet Chocolate; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Rich Cocoa; Paper: Digital Paper printed on GA Pacific White, Brown Bazzill, Neenah; Other: Copics, Glitter Pen, SU Marker (Rose Romance), Hemp, Button, EK Success Edge (new ones that fold flat)
For this card, I used eclipse tape to mask which I've never done. I usually just stamp it on scrap paper and use the EK Success Repositionable Squares to place them. I then store all my masks in one folder to reuse them. Well I had gotten some of the eclipse tape when I had gone down to Pensacola for my Copic Cert and I figured I try it out. I must say it's really nice, easy to cut. As for the storing for the reuse...that's still to be seen so far.

Update on my back: For those that you are keeping up on what's going on with my back. I found out Thursday that was what my GP called a "large bulging disc" is actually a extruding disc. For those of us that don't know what that is it is as orthopedics.about says "A disc extrusion occurs when the outer part of the spinal disc ruptures, allowing the inner, gelatinous part of the disc to squeeze out. Disc extrusions can occur with the ligaments in tact, or damaged."
So at this point my neurosurgeon is sending me for a myelogram this coming Thursday for them to tell exactly where the problem is so that they can make repairs.

Still Here

Sorry, I've just not been feeling very well the last few days. I will probably be back tomorrow or Wednesday since tomorrow is my appointment with my neurosurgeon to find out what is going on with my back.

To hopefully make it up to you some I'll tell you about some blog candy that Starving Artistamps is giving away. So forget to go check it out because it's looking really cool and I want it all for myself =). Oh Baby Candy!!

Playing with Lightbox

I'm still messing around with my new light box. Still not sure what I'm doing. However this is what I did today and the picture I took. Plus this is the swap that I did for Asela. I can't wait to see what everyone did.
Stamps: (not sure of the names of the stamps) Club Scrap - Dance Steps & Dance Anywhere, Stamp Camp - Dancer; Ink: SU Lavendar Lace & Cranberry Crisp, Memento Tuxedo Black; Paper: Club Scrap - Dance Steps, Neenah, GA Pacific White; Other: Polka Dot Ribbon, Nesties, Copics, Spica

Case of the Missing B Handle

Several weeks ago while I was in my craft room I went to go stamp something and went to go grab my trusty B handle...but it was gone...DUN DUN DUN!!! I ended up having to order a new B handle to replace my beloved B handle. Lo and behold, as soon as I placed my order I find my missing handle. Now I tore up my craft room looking for this thing and couldn't find it anywhere. So it's no longer the case of the missing B handle but who snuck in borrowed it and then brought it back...hmmm.

Now, we're on to this week's Unity Addict's Challenge. It was Maria's week and she challenged us to use the banner that Unity used to advertise the blog hop as inspiration. I'm not sure of how much I like my card but I was inspired by the colors and all of the patterns.
Stamps: Love is in the Air; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Rich Cocoa, SU Pumpkin Pie; Paper: GA Pacific White, Neenah, Magnolia PP, Archivers Yellow; Other: Nesties, Circle Punch, Stickles
