D-Day

So tomorrow is the big day. At 9:45 am EST I show up at the ENT for my surgery on my nose. Then I'm not supposed to do any bending or lifing, but they didn't say anything about stamping. So we'll see come tomorrow afternoon.

Kiss From a Rose

Beate's weekend sketch challenge is another one of those that I've never done before but I've always wanted to try...so I did this weekend. This is my attempt. Not sure how I feel about it how it turned out but her she is. Kind of reminds of of the song by Seal "Kiss from a Rose"
Stamps: Rubber Romance Flower & Sarah with a Rose, Gina K Spring Blooms; Paper: PTI Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush, White; Ink: PTI Berry Sorbet, Versamark, Charcoal; Other Supplies: Clear EP, Nestabilities, Metallic Rubons, Ribbon, Spica Pen, Prisams, OMS

Trying Again

PaperTrey Ink has new stamps. I thought I would try once again for their design team. One of their new sets is by Madras Design called It's A Celebration. Well the bow to me looked like a butterfly so I took it and the bottom of the hat to make a buterfly (I highlighted the stamps I used in pink on the right). Then I took a streamer to make the path of the butterfly. I made it all on vellum so it gave it a cool look but it also was easier to piece together.

Stamps: PTI - Madras Designs It's A Celebration; Ink: Noir Black, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Spring Moss; Paper: White, Vanilla, Bashful Blue, Vellum; Other Supplies: Berry Sorbet Ribbon, CB Birds & Swirls, Stickles, Fun Flock Caramel Latte Tan

Playing Around

So, I've had this idea running around in my head for a while to try this. The hardest part for me was to find the rub ons that I wanted to put on my laptop. I finally found some by American Crafts called Accents Book One that I liked. To be honest I really wanted to get some by Fancy Pants but I could never find them. So these were my second choice by I like the way it turned out. The initials are from the same pack that I used on the expanding file folder purse. And yes my initials spell out SHE. They are from Marcella by Kay.

Let's Get Together, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!

Although, I'm not going to anything so huge as the gatherings in SoCal or the one in Texas. What's the next best thing? Getting together with 40 of your Georgia buddies and throwing around some ink and rubber.

So to get prepared Mom, Abra (my sister), & I sat around working on what we were going to be making. This is Abra's first get together, and hopefully not her last. I'm actually really excited she's coming this year because she is so creative and very talented. I know I've talked about her in the past but if you've never checked out her blog or her etsy shop (not saying you have to buy anything)...you really should.
Now on to what I'm making for the get together...that is if you want to see it. Here it is.

Stamps: Tagger's Dozen, Polka Dots & Daises; Paper: Cool Caribbean, Apricot Appeal; Ink: Cool Caribbean, Chocolate Chip; Other Supplies: Binder Rings, Misc. Ribbon, Nestabilites, Post-it Notes

I got this tutorial from Angie at Chic n' Scratch Shack. It was SOOOO easy to do. You can find her tutorial at http://chicnscratch.typepad.com/stampinacademy/2008/02/post-it-notes-k.html.

Candyland

I'm going to tell you a story and hopefully my sister will not kill me. When she was little she used to suck her thumb. The only way my parents could get her to quit was to offer to buy her Candy Land. Which was really kind of funny because for the most part she did quit but she would sneak off and still suck on her thumb. But we loved playing this game. It had the coolest areas and colors. Anyway, when I saw Em's stamp Cupcakeabella it reminded me of this game. And then when I saw Happy Forest, I started brain storming and well... you can see the card below to see what I thought up

Stamps: Cupcakeabella, Enjoy Like, Happy Forest (all Stamping Bella); Ink: Palette Hybrid Noir Black; Paper: SU Pink Passion, Cool Caribbean; Other: Red Flat back jewel, Stickles in Purple & Clear, American Crafts Ribbon, Prismas, OMS, Carl Jr. Scalloped Punch

MiniVSN

I've always wanted to do these and never got the chance because I didn't have a Internet connection at my house. Well, now I've getting a chance to. So because they had a practice night or this Mini VSN I thought it would hurt to try it out & see how I would do. This it what I made for the Challenges...

Stamps: SU Reason to Smile; Paper: Greenish Tissue Paper, SU Bashful Blue, Bazzill Blue; Ink: SU Night of Navy, Palette Hybrid Red & Blue; Other Supplies: Ribbon, SU Mint Melody Marker
FYI - when you use this technique per Beate's intruction's on SCS she suggests you to use Palette Hybrid ink, which you will notice I used. Here's the catch, I was going to use PTI new Hybrid ink, it doesn't work very well with this particular technique. When I stamped it on the tissue paper intially it made a good clear impression but after a few seconds a ran. For best results, stick to true Palette Hybrid inks.

OOPs

I forgot. I promised a while ago I would do something and I had totally forgotten about it. Well, I gonna do it now and I hope that you will forgive me.

Some of you are probably wondering what on earth is she talking about now. Ok, I'm about to explain...be patient. I'm part of the Paper Pretties club every month. So every month I get this nice little package every month. Well I told you I would take a pic and show you the goodies I get. Here's the one I got in December...

This is what all came in it: 4 pcs of Bazzill white CS, 2 pcs Heidi Grace Snowflake paper, 1 pc Heidi Grace Flocked paper, 1 pc Heidi Grace Glitter paper, 2 pc Bazzill aqua paper, 1 pc Bazzill jewel paper, 2 pcs ultrasmooth white paper, 2 yds white satin ribbon, 2 yds silver ribbon, 2 yds silver taffeta ribbon, 1 pkg Heidi Swapp acetate snowflakes, 20 clear gem brads, 6 envelopes, 1 Snowbunny bella stamp, 1 warm hugs sentiment stamp, Paper Pretties card design & instructions.

And now on to the card. Last night I participated in the My Favorite Things Challenge for the Guest Designer Challenge. Although I'm pretty sure I didn't win. Here's my main reasons for thinking that, 1) I thought it was lacking something once I had it done, 2) once I saw the other entries I was in awe & then I knew that I was probably out of contention. However, at this point you're probably just saying yeah whatever just show me the card. Ok, you asked for it.

Other Supplies: Scallop Square Punch, Rounded Corner Punch, Baubles, Large Paper Clip, 1/2" Circle Punch (?), Misc Ribbons, CB 2 Step Scribble Flower, Glaze Pens

Easy As Pie

I made this (see below) super easy card last night as a thank you to my boss last night. I don't know that even took me ten mintues to make. Clint was so sweet to let me use the company's printer to print invitations (shown on left - for bigger image, click on)for this year's Memorial of the Lord's Evening Meal .

Here's the back of the invitation -->, I did however blank out the local information because it will not be useful to most of you out there. There will be a Memorial held at one of your local Kingdom Hall.

Ok, so here's the card. I know finally...

Stamps: shapes by design (Urban Design by Alli Miles) & Many Thanks (Faux Ribbon) - PaperTrey Ink; Ink: Palette Hybrid Noir & Aqua Mist (exclusive PTI); Paper: SU Cardstock; Other Supplies: Paper Piercer, Scorer, Stickles
Oh, and for all of you that read Lauren M blog. I went by Michael's today and got those flowers that she was talking about the other day for $3.74. That's a savings of $1.25, which I thought was pretty good.

I borrowed this pic from Lauren's blog (I hope she doesn't mind).

My Celebrity Look Alikes

I really think this is funny because this is not one of my better pictures. When I used some of them I got some of the weirdest looking people.

North and South

I don't know if my head was buried or what but I just found a movie recently called North and South and I absolutely LOVE it!! For any of you out there that have an affinity towards Jane Austen or Pride & Prejudice I do believe you will like this movie. It has some of the same undertones however this takes place in the 1850s in an Industrial part of England. It is based on the book by Elizabeth Gaskell (1810-1865) who came on the scene right after Jane Austen (1775-1817). I had already really liked Wives & Daughters which was based on another one of her books. Now that I've given you the history. I'll have to actually go get her books so I can read them.

You know it was funny I was thinking how much I love these older based movies & books and that it didn't make sense because I'm such an independent person. Then I started really thinking about the main characters Elizabeth (P&P) and Margaret (N&S) -not that I'm by any means comparing myself to them - but they are very strong minded independent women. Maybe that's the reason I love these movies so much but in the end they do get their romantic endings. So maybe there is hope for me after all..I can be independent and maybe get my romantic ending.

Polar Bear Attack

This guy managed to survive a horrific polar bear attack. Be cautious, the photos are gruesome.

I thought this was too cute not to share.

I know I've been missing slightly. It's been a really busy week. I will share some things that I have done tomorrow.
