Just Right Birds FFC

birds I hope no one that’s looking at this post today has a thing against birds because if you do I would suggest skipping the blog today.  For some reason or another whenever I see a bunch of birds like this it always reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock’s movie The Birds.  Although I gotta say I’ve never seen it and I’m not sure I ever want to.

Now that is not what inspired my creation in anyway, shape, form or fashion.  I’m just kinda saying how my mind works.  LOL Although if Tippy Hedren were wearing a blue coat in the picture it could have.  Because Kim challenged us today to use the colors blue and yellow in honor of Chelsea graduating today.

I’m so proud of all my friends’ kids and wish them all the best as the start off {ready for the cheese} next big step in their lives.  OK cheese factor is over.  WHEW!!

Onto my creation…

JustRight Kinda get where I was going with it. hehe  Although I do like my card.  On the inside it says “no caged birds”.  I would have loved to be able to add “gotta fly free”.

I do hope everyone has a wonderful weekend especially if you are having a three day one like I am.

Are You Sparkly Yet?

Or as Cassie says iSparkle!!!  When I posted my necklace yesterday I had ever intent to come back with a card because I really wanted to be able to showcase another card with a SweetPea Stamp.  Well, that and… I played with my Cricket for the first time ever (don’t laugh too hard).  I’ve only had it since January, but I gotta say it’s a lotta fun.  When I saw this option on my cartridge I knew I just had to use it to make a card for this stamp.

A Sparkly Whimsical Day

ww_spbadge2 It’s the close to another month.  Can you believe we’ve already been through 5 months to this year already?  I can’t!!  We had such a wonderful sponsor and I had a wonderful time playing with the stamps they sent us to play with.  I can’t wait to play with them more in the future.

I would like to give one more huge than you to Lynette and Randi to arranging everything and taking care of us.  They were both so wonderful.  THANKS again!!

As for June, we have a little something up our sleeves but you’ll have to tune in next week to find out.  And when I say little I actually mean…

HUGE!!

This week’s challenge we still have guest sketch-ers stepping in… Kim Ross’s daughters, Kaeli & Emilie.  Their challenge (hehe) is to sparkle it up.  For me that’s not really a challenge.

I’ve been kinda on a jewelry kick lately and came across a pendant I had that was a tree with a moon on it.  I cut off the pendant bail and went to work, sparkles and all.  I really like what I came up with.  I hope the sparkles come across.

MoonTree

The sparkles/jewels are the Sakura Gem set.  I got it at the CHA Supershow and finally got a chance to break it out and play with it.  I now can’t wait to play some more.

Gotta get some more sparkly fix?  Check out the Whimsical Dare blog for more challenge details and links to the other girls’ blogs.

Fun At The Movies

With my sister & brother in law having their anniversary a week & a half ago, I wanted to come up with something cute to go with the gift card that I got for them to go with the NetFlix Gift Certificate that I had gotten them.  It went really nice with the new Blu Ray we got them.  I started thinking about it and I came up with this idea.

PopcornPopcornInI drew up a popcorn box & had fun with my Chick Flick set from My Favorite Things.  I only wish I could have had an image with a guy & a girl.  But I was good with it looking like it was my sis & me.

A Bird & Ninjas

At this point I’m sure you are wondering, huh?  I know I would be.  Talk about two opposites.  Hopefully by the end it will make more sense.

As you know besides loving to stamp, I love making jewelry.  I wanted to make a pendant for my sister.  My sister is into artsy and more dainty type pendants.  When I was in Hobby Lobby the other day I saw the stuff they had from Vintaj immediately started getting ideas on what to make for her.  This is what I finally came up with and this is where the bird comes in.

BirdNecklace

As I was taking the photos of the pendant and a few other projects while I was at my sister’s house.  My nephew decided to be my photographer’s assistant.  He was so cute, even wanted to take a few photos himself.  Then he posed his ninjas and told me I had to take a pic of them too.  So this is in honor of my trust photog assistant.  Thanks babe for all your help ;)

Ninjas

Hopefully that explained the bird and ninjas collaboration.

Rawr Means…

RawrMeans Ever since I can remember my nephew has loved dinosaurs.  He got where he could name all of them, tell you all about them at that was just when he was like 2 1/2.  He’s now 6 1/2 still loves him some dinosaurs.  When the movie Wild Things came out you can imagine how excited he was.  For him it was just a step away from dinosaurs.  So when My Favorite Things came out with a new set called Little Loveosaurus for me it was a no brainer to get it.

And I made him a whole of stuff with it from a Tee Shirt to a bookmark (with him being in first grade he’s really gotten into reading.  He just started Diary of a Wimpy Kid.) Side Note: I made one of those bookmark cards.  It was super easy & it went over big!!

YOHOOO Me Mateys!!

This week I figured I should do the pirate I did last week in color.  I’m so glad I did, because she’s so awesome in color too.  The color thing about these images is (or at least I think) is you can just color the main image or the background and it makes it different then if you colored the entire thing.  Yet it still looks really good.  I’m a definite convert, not that it took much.

As you know this month is mix up sketch month.  This week we have 2 stars for our sketchs for you to choose from… Willow & Piper!!

Piper

 Willow

I choose sweet little Willow’s sketch because this was her very first time doing a sketch.

PirateInColorNow I’m going to have to go see what everyone else used for their stamps and sketches.  For more details start out at the Whimsical Dare blog and then you can hop along from there to all the other Dare Devils.

Stamp:  Unregrettable Pirate
Paper: Nennah CS, PTI Kraft, SU Textured Rose Red, Webster’s Pages Seaside Retreat
Ink: Tuxedo Black

And another big thank you to our sponsor this month SweetPea Stamps.

A New & A Late Challenge

In case you haven’t noticed my blog has been “sluggish”.  Can we blame it on my blog?  Even though it me & the fact that I’ve been totally overwhelmed.  I’m going to try to get better but I can’t promise anything as everything starts to slip back into place.  I will tell you that I did get quite a bit of crafty stuff done on Saturday, so I’ll try to spread it out a little bit.

Friday, for the Fun Challenge… ie the late challenge we were challenged to make a card with an insect on it.

As for the new challenge, on the All Things Unity blog we are using a sketch.

I decided with being so far behind maybe I should combine the too (although one was slightly cheating).

SingASongSingASongOpen

See what I mean about cheating there are insects on the paper.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Black, Distress Inks – Pumice Stone

ARRGGGHH Matey!!

Well here we are for another whimsical Wednesday!!  I hope you’re all have a wonderful week.  I know the chickie in my stamp is, I wish I was a whimsical as her, sitting somewhere on a beach/shoreline instead of getting ready for a colonoscopy.  As anyone that has one knows they are anything but whimsical.

PLUS, we have another guest sketcher this week – MISS KYAH!! and she put together a great one that is just perfect for the SweetPeas Stamps.

I think these stamps are amazing (ok, it’s no secret that I have an affection for stamps and have a propensity to gush over my new ones) and I have to admit these are just wonderful for coloring.  However it’s not mandatory, as you will see in my card this week.  I was using Unregrettable Pirate Life and was inspired to do a pirate flag type card.

Ink: Versamark
Paper: SU Black, Webster’s Pages – Lullaby Lane & Life’s Portrait , Neenah CS, Misc Map Paper

Flowers, Flowers

Everywhere!! I so love flowers.  These not many I don’t like.  So when our illustrious Kim has come back as our hostess for this month and challenged us to make our own flowers, you know I had to do it!!

I love me some flowers!!!

And if you know me at all… you know I could just do the norm.

I broke out some tulle, my nestabilites, a Basic Grey brad, a little wire and headband.  And this is what I came up with…

HeadbandNow I have to find a cute little girl to give it to.

Also, now that I’ve had a chance to sit back after a very long day at work, I’m going to go check out what the other sassy girls made today.

Have You Missed Me?

I hope you believed me when I told you this month was going to be an intense one for me.  My father had surgery which was bookended by my mother having cataract surgery on her eyes.  They split that up where you only have one eye done at a time.  However, after she had the first eye done poor mom broke her foot.  Needless to say we’ve been having lots of fun up here on cripple hill.  I won’t even go into all the fun and overtime I’ve had to put in at work lately.  The important thing is…

I’ve been able to get back into my craft room!!!

It a sanctuary, a release, a place to unwind.  I know you all know what I’m talking about.

I was especially inspired when we got a new sponsor for Whimsical Wednesday and I have been drooling over their stamps for quite a while.  Let me just tell you, you can’t help but be inspired especially when I tell you that you will also get a chance to win some of these beauties!!  You will have until May 11th, 8 PM CST to get your project posted on the Diedrich Dare blog using the sketch to be entered for a chance at a $20 Gift Certificate.

We also have some guest sketchers for this month (yep that’s right I’m not telling you just yet who our sponsor is yet).  Each week we will have a different guest.  This week is Andrea’s little sweetie Kaitlyn.

katie sketch001Our sponsor, you ask?  The wonderfully generous Lynn over at SweetPea Stamps.
