In Memory

In memory of what you may ask? One year and one week ago a thing called Hip Hop was started on Splitcoast. We all wondered what on what on earth? Hip Hop... you mean the music? NO!!! And thus begun a phenomenon that happened every Thursday that would suck you into it's vortex of fun with chatting and giveaways. Angela, the Goddess of Unity, has divined that the end of Hip Hop was yesterday but does that mean the fun is over? HARDLY!! Do we know what's up Angela's sleeve? Well, I don't...not yet at least, but I can't wait to find out.
Stamps: Unity Stamp Co - Giggle Groove, May KOM (...another sweet day); Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa; Paper: PTI Kraft & Chocolate, Basic Grey - Lime Rickey, Generic White CS; Other: Copics ABS, Chatterbox Ribbon, Horizontal Slot SU Punch
Now onto the fun!! It's Friday and time for our Friday Fun Challenge. This week's challenge is to make something you can wear. Now although I did that I can't seem to take a good picture of it to save my life. I might have to bribe my sister to come take it.
Stamps: Unity Stamp Co - Bevy of Butterflies; Ink: Stazon - Forest Green; Paper (?): Polyshrink; Other: Bobby pins
These are so easy to make. The only thing is you have to make sure that the bobby pin is really in there because they can come loose. I wear mine all the time and love them.

Would you like to see what everybody else made this week? Me too...

Kim (didn't get to do anything today but you can still go leave her some love)

Confession Time

I have confession to make. I have had a love affair for Rubber Romance stamps for some time now. I even tried out for the Design Team they had not that long ago (no I didn't get chosen), yes it does put a huge dent in your self-confidence. However, when I saw that they had a sketch challenge on their blog this week, I had to do it.I really enjoyed making this card because I got to use a technique that I hadn't gotten to gotten a grasp of before.
Stamps: Katie & her balloons; Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa & Tuxedo Black; Paper: SEI - Oasis, GA Pacific, Prism - White Simply Smooth, PTI Kraft; Other: Flowers - Primas & centers, Copics, Spicas, Marvy Gel Excel, Nesties

Finishing Touches

I've been rearranging my craft room, yes I am almost done, just a few more finishing touches and I'll have pictures to share. In fact I got one of those finishing touches in the mail today. I wanted a way to be able to move around my room better and considering that room is carpeted, I had to come up with something. Personally I really don't like the mats that you would normally use for computers chairs because they are unwieldy and have a tendency to crack really bad. Well, I don't remember how I found it but when I was surfing around a couple of weeks ago I came across these bamboo floor protectors that easily roll up. I really like it and it's really pretty!!

I did however take a time out to do the Weekend Sketch Challenge that Beate had up on her blog.
Stamps: WOJ - Fall Stamp Kit; Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Rich Cocoa; Paper: PTI Dark Chocolate, SEI - Oasis, Prism - White Simply Smooth; Other: Copics (including airbrush), PTI - Buttons (Berry Sorbet, Ripe Avocado), PTI Twine, Marcella by K Embossed Stickers, Mike's Grosgrain ribbon

2) I was a little down last week and I got cards from two of the sweetest girls, Sherry and Jan, to cheer me up. Thank you girls so much because I got a huge smile on my face just seeing the envelopes.
3) I am still celebrating my blogaversary. I've been cleaning up craft room and I came across some things that I thought you gals might like. So I have a mystery pack to give away but don't worry it will be filled with all kinds of good stuff. Please leave a comment by Monday, the 24th at 10 pm.

4) This is the last thing, I promise. I came across this today where Leanne is giving away blog candy that is the Gorjuss stamps. You have until September 1st to check hers out.

In Honor

The boys of Unity put out a video this week showing a make & take (or take & make as they put it in the video) that was made at the CHA Supershow. In it they used the new set that Unity is releasing called Le Chic Vintage which they are putting together in a special scrapbook kit with their own special ink & Cosmo Cricket, Jillibean paper.I thought it was cool that they were reusing/repurposing the wooden logo plaques that the stamps used to come with. Here's the one I made. I'm not sure what was used other than the new Unity ink.

I Couldn't Resist

I would like to like to give a big shout out to Beate, Daven, Jenn and Lori. They did such an awesome job with the booth at the CHA Supershow. They had cupcakes and were having cute make & takes. This is where Daven was so sweet to give me the stamp I used on the background of my card. I think it's perfect for this set from MFT.
Stamps: Who's that e-girl?, I heart Splitcoast; Paper: PTI Craft, Crate Paper, MFT Packaging; Ink: Memento Tuxedo & London Grey; Other: Copic Airbrushing, Prima Daisies, Typewriter keys, grosgrain ribbon

Are You Ready For This?

As you may have noticed I have been playing around lately with different forms of breaking out of my box. I'm really kind of excited with what I did this week. I saw this week's challenge from MFT to use their stamps to create something school themed. My brain went into overdrive, especially since I got some of their new stamps when I was at the CHA Supershow (Jody twisted my arm to get this one set... hehe, yeah right!!)
What did I use: I canvas bag, the DMC thread that I had accumulated from all the cross-stitch I used to do, including the seed beads, of course the stamp & and just the ink to stamp the image on the bag initially. I then just back stitched the entire thing.
Now onto the blog candy that was offered up Friday night... according to the random generator my girl Sherry won it. Don't forget to come back this Friday for some more.

Friday Fun!! and a Realization

I was sitting here this evening and the realization hit me that my blogaversary was last week. I'VE BEEN BLOGGING FOR TWO YEARS!!! I can't believe it. In addition to your regularly scheduled posts for this week, each Friday for our Fun Challenge (especially since I'm hosting) I'll be giving something away. And if you play with us you will get an extra two entries.

This week's challenge was to make a card that was anything but the usual shape. I also wanted to make something a little masculine plus I think it might fit into this week's Jacksonbelle's challenge because I didn't do any stamping (I even used the stuff that I just got from their sale).
Paper: Cosmo Cricket - Cogsmo; Other: Coluzzle Heart Shape, Green Grosgrain Ribbon, Hero Arts Jewels, Shimmerz Spritz
Are you wondering what you could get if you start commenting and if you do the challenge with us? This cute little stamp from The Greeting Farm. Make sure comments and entries are done by Monday at 10 pm EST. If you do an entry worth 2 extra comments you can upload it to SCS with the keyword FFC44.

Wanna see what the other Friday Challenge Chicks did? Here's links to their blogs, make sure you leave them lovin' too...

My Goals

Theirs a blog that I that I read called Unwed Human Female and she regularly posts her goals, then she later posts which ones she's accomplished (yes, these are craft related). I think this is cool and think that I might borrow the idea.

Goal One: STRAIGHTEN UP MY CRAFT ROOM!!! Yes this one requires hollering, no not at you me. This one, I've already started on and already improved on since this picture was taken.
Right now the one thing that's holding me up I'm waiting to get a 5" table. Once I'm done I'll take new pictures.

Goal Two: Use more of all of my stamps!! Yes all of them, if not get rid of them. Which reminds me, I have a bunch I need to list for sale including inks and accessories. Here's what I made tonight.
It also incorporates another one of my goals which is push myself outta my box. I tried a new technique.
Stamps: Stephanie Fizer - Owls and Bluebells; Ink: Black Stazon; Paper: Scraps, PTI Clear Paper; Other: Bazzill White Flower, HL Pearl, Art Institute Glitter, Shimmerz Golden Wheat, Mudpie & Bamboo Leaf, MM Black Shear Ribbon, EK Success Punch, Decorative Scissors
I stamped the clear sheet on Stazon then I masked it & ran it thru the xyron. Once I did that I sprinkled with that Art Glitter. After that was set, I "painted" with Shimmerz to give it the color that it has. I think it turned out pretty cool. (Caution: When you do the "painting" be careful not to do it to wet or it will bleed on to the surrounding glitter)

We Are Family

My sister, BIL & nephew came down this weekend. We had a really go time just hanging out. The first night while I took my nephew home with me (he wanted to spend the night with me) my sister & BIL stood up late talking & having a good time with my parents. What did I do? I got to watch my two cuties sleeping on the couch, while playing on the computer.

It's what kinda inspired me to make the card that I did last night after everyone left.
Stamps: Unity Stamp Co - Jun KOM (Perfect in Every Way); Ink: Black Memento; Paper: BG - Urban Prairie, Prism White; Other: Yellow grosgrain, MM Staples, Copics, Copic Black Pen, Chalk, Hero Arts Jewels
While I stamping last night, I had someone trying to break in and join in. When I went outside to do something I saw this "small bird" on my window. Mom saw it and said it was actually bigger than a hummingbird, she's was right. It was flipping HUGE!!

Bling It Up Baby

It's my month to challenge you to have fun, so are you ready? This Friday's Challenge is to Bling it Up. What's your definition of bling? For me, it's glitter, rhinestones, and pearls. I would love to know what you guys think. In the meantime I'll show you what I made. I wore it at CHA, I made it with different Unity images. If you guys really want a tutorial let me know and I think I can make one up for ya. These are really easy to make. It's just a matter of patience.

ETA: I was so tired last night when I wrote this I totally forgot to give you links to my other girls. Here ya go...check them out and see out they bling'd it out!!

One More Thing

I wanted to give a big shout out to my dad. He was so amazing to my mom and me while we went down to Orlando. He drove us down, he even went with us on Friday. The funny thing is I don't know when it was that he gave up on looking around I just know that he found the comfortable chairs in the middle of the area and mom & I ended up dropping off our bags off with him. Saturday he insisted we take the car as he hung out at the room. I love my parents!!

Disclaimer: The picture to the left is not at CHA but at Stone Mountain a couple months before.

Now onto the one more thing. On Friday, Mom and I did a focus group. I don't know if you've done one of these before but they don't tell you what they're for before you get there. It just so happens that I was very familiar with the product before I got there (they were very surprised).

I had gotten probably about a year ago when Joan Fricker was offering them in her store on special. I immediately fell in love, in fact I had gotten one for my mom & sister. It's the main thing I use when I use adhesive and if they come out with what all they are talking with coming out it will be the only thing I will use.

In fact, I even upgraded to the larger one or the mambo jambo one because they are awesome.

CHA Highlight

For me one of the big highlights of CHA was meeting the people that I've talked to online over the years on SCS. Two of those people were Jimmi and Sherry. I've really gotten to know these girls over the past year, I think it's been that long, especially since I was invited to be part of the Friday Fun Challenge crew with them and Kim & Kimme.

Unfortunately, because the week had been so crazy for them and they were leaving Saturday we didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked. BUT I loved getting to meet them because it was a blast and I got to ride in the Jimmi mobile.

Now don't forget to come back Friday to see what we have up our sleeves because it's my month to come up all of the fun.

Have You Seen My Booty?

No not that one...this one. Yes that is the majority of my queen size bed covered in stuff that I got at CHA. Granted I have most of it spread out so you can see it all (you should be able to click on the picture). The cool thing is some of it is make-n-takes, some are give aways; one was a prize pack I got from Cricut (no I didn't get a machine, shucks), and one was a pack of stuff from a focus group I did. Then of course the rest the stuff was just stuff I just couldn't resist!!

Can you spy the I ♥ Splitcoaststamp? You should also be able to see the PTI special set that they were giving away at CHA (and I swore I wasn't going to spend enough to get it...LOL) A few of the make & takes I made (Jenn you should be able to see the Unity one) Plus the one Judi Watanabe made. It was an awesome feeling when she looks up at me during a demo and says don't I know you, you look familiar. Don't I wish!!!
I can't wait to try this new toy, Extreme Glitter. It's glitter but it's paint. I watched Donna Dewberry while she demoed it.

I'll have more stuff to show you shortly that I brought with me to wear including the little peak that your getting of my name tag.
