Creating a Memory FFC & FWF

I actually love when we have challenges like this.  Because then you sit there and have to pick a memory at random that hits you and inspires you to create and you never know what it will be.  When you look my card you will probably be thinking…WHA?

As most of you that have ever met me or talked to me will know I am a southern girl.  Nope I can’t hid from it.  Born and raised.  But a little known fact is my mom was a Brooklyn “Jew”  (feel like I should put in here that she’s still very much alive & kicking but she’s says she’s lived here more than there now).  That’s right I had a Bubbie and Zadie.  Because of my mother’s northern roots and my father (yep, he’s a Mississippi boy) living there for nine years, I’ve visited New York many a time.  I {heart} it big time.  I seriously wanted to live there.  No SERIOUSLY!!  Would still move there if given the opportunity.  I used to go visit quite frequently.  However, now it’s been quite a few years since I’ve been.  Doesn’t mean I don’t still love it and have many good memories there.  Hence the inspiration behind today’s card.

Live Be

I used Unity’s City of Love which I stamped on a Jenni Bowlin Bingo card with Versafine Tuxedo Black ink & poured some metallic eP over.  Then I used some of my new favorite markers by Faber-Castell (I got mine at Ellen Hutson’s store).  I love them because while they’re still wet you can smudge them to give that shadow effect but once they are dry they are color fast & waterproof.  Neat, huh?  Seriously IN LOVE!!  Then I just mounted on some mustardy Bazzill paper.

On a 4x 5.5” base I put a 1” inch edge with the Be Mine masked off to use just the Be, then add 3 Bazzill rhinestones.  Then add 2.5” x 4” piece of Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket on bottom edge.  Once this is all added I added by Bingo piece tied it off with some Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist colored Seam Binding with some more rhinestones added in the corner.

So are we ready to find some more memories?  Me too…

Trying Something New

I’m going to admit in a huge way some much I LOVE this challenge!!!!  It stems from the fact that I just got Donna Downey’s Inspired event in Charlotte last week.  To say that I want to play and try out new things would be an understatement!!  Hence when I saw this was our challenge for this week I wanted to just jump up and down.

While there I got to take a class from Christy Tomlinson, let’s just say it rocked!!!  I combined what I learned in that class with some other tidbits I learned along the way through the week.

I gotta say the only down side to the entire thing is the fact that this was the last Inspired event… BOO!! It just figures when I find out about something it would be the last one.  I am extremely grateful that I did get a chance to go to this one.  I wouldn’t have missed it!!

I plugged in my ear phones, which I hardly ever do (normally I plug in a movie).  Started jamming away while I let inspiration flow.

I’m so glad you were able to stop by and will now join me as I go check out the other girlies…

New Month, New Challenge FWF FFC

Hello my darlings!!  Well crazy town may officially be slowing down just a bit.  Later today I will be finally heading to Athens for the Craft Fair.  So if you are in the area I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU!!!  If not, I totally understand.

We in the Friday FUN Challenge world are starting a new month of challenges, although you wouldn’t know if by me since I’ve missed the last few due to drowning in craft world.  But I hope to be getting back  into the swing of it now.  Kimme is the one back to challenging us and today she challenged us to use ribbon and/or pearls.  Cool combo!!

SmileSuit

I used seam binding and twine for my ribbon.  For my pearls I used Liquid Pearls for the dots on the bathing suit.

Now for those All Things Unity fans out there, we have something special out there that you will really want to check out tomorrow on the blog.  So stay tuned.  As for being tuned in though you may want to go check out …

You’re So…

Kind! Of course!!

Yeah I realize that if you’ve been over to this might seem like a slightly recycled post, but don’t worry I have a little more detailed picture for you on here today.  And a slight yikes.  I didn’t realize it had been a little while since I had posted last.

The craft fair that I was telling you about.  Well I’m definitely going so I’ve been super busy getting things ready for it.  I’m super excited because this is my first.  I did however make this for FWF over on All Things Unity, by the way did you know that we have a new challenge starting tomorrow?

Now for the details I promised…

One here’s the card…

SoKind

In the March KoM – {just you} there’s this stamp set that’s just perfect for being a template.  Wait!  I’ll show you…

March KOM

You could use for pearls, rhinestones, buttons, liquids pearls… well anything.  I just happened to use rhinestones…

You'reSoClose

As for one more for confession, I didn’t get to play with my sassy girls this week.  We were supposed to make a File Folder Notebook and just with everything I had going on I didn’t have the time.  But please feel free to see what they made.

No. 37 FFC & FWF

Thirty Seven.  #37  We are working with a 3 and a 7.  Why you ask?  For our girl Sherry they are important numbers this week.

So our challenge was to use 3 different Ribbons and 7 embellishments – You can use 7 of the same or mix it up, but you need to use 7.  Stitching and paper-piercing count for one embellishment in each place you use it.

I’m not quite sure I interpreted it correctly I especially didn’t get to use 3 ribbons but I translated 2 (my one burlap & one seam binding).  But if I got my embellishments that I counted as over seven, I figured I would count them as one ribbon.

BeBrave
My circles, I used a coffee collar from Starbucks and punched away.  Fun right?  On the inside I used Thickers to say Be Brave!
Now I gotta go see what Christi, Jimmi & Kimme came up with because Sherry weren’t able to play along this week.
EDITED:  Wanted to redo pic, the other wasn’t so good.

It’s a Faux Kind Of Day FFC FWF

A Faux Day that would be interesting wouldn’t it?  Would that be like a pretend day that you get all for yourself that no one else knows about?  I’ll 2 please!!

However sadly no.  In honor of the fact that it is April 1st, Sherry challenged us this week to use one of the following Faux Techniques:

Faux Metal
Faux Tile
Faux Wood
Faux Tearing

I decided to go with Faux Metal and not just because it was the first choice.

Mr&Mrs1

Mr&Mrs2

I think it came out looking like a seal and it make a nice wedding card.

Now I’m off to see what the other girls made, won’t you join me?

Dancing with My Sassy Girls FFC

Well I’ve been trying to get back into the swing of things and I have been getting there still slowly.  So I’ve been sneaking in FFC through my girl Jimmi.  From what I got the challenge was to use red & black (Christi’s alma mater colors).

I thought this went the card I had spinning around in my head went really well with the All Things Unity challenge to make a celebration card.  I went with an anniversary card.

Just remember that if you are playing along, you have a chance at a Jillibean Soup Kit.

Shimmerin Tickin FFC

It’s been quite a while since I got to play with my fellow sassy girls and I have so missed them.  I secretly messaged Jimmi to find out what the challenge was this week so I could sneak in a card.  I’m not even sure who put up the challenge this week.  I just know that it’s about clocks and time because it’s Daylight Savings Time this weekend.

I also decided to play with my Shimmer-y Mists because I saw challenge that Cath put out on Moxie Fab World.  It’s the Stamping with Shimmer Sprays Challenge in the Moxie Fab World plus I used the sketch for March I <3 Sketches {Jen del Muro}.

TicTock

I used the Glimmer Mists to not only color my ribbon but when I sanded cardstock I used it to readd come color back.

Now don’t forget to check out the other Sassy girls…

5 Layer Dip FFC

It’s all about the layers today.  I gotta tell you in all of my days of papercrafting I’ve never been one of those girls that has paid any attention to how many layers I put down… until today, when our fearless for this month Christi told us we needed to “Create a card with 5 paper layers NOT counting the base card.”  Then when you all of a sudden have to pay attention to how many layer your using it all of sudden becomes hard.

5Layers Not to shabby if I say so myself, well kinda shabby chic but not the other kinda shabby.  And I may have been able to squeak it in with Kimme’s challenge over at SCS with the Hope You Can Cling To.

Now off we go to see how the other girlies faired.

Working Fabric FFC

Christi is our awesome hostess this month and when I saw the challenge this week it really made me start to think.  Why?  Because as she puts it “For today, it's all about you. Create a project that is just for you and your enjoyment.”  EH?  Make something for me?  I think I did that once.  But to do it again?   OK!

Alright I am a HUGE reader…HUGE!!  This is what I decided to do.

TiniBookmarkAnd I think it goes really well with the Some Odd Girl Challenge too to use fabric on your creation.  That’s right the entire front is fabric and not paper.  I backed it with cardboard.  I also used one of the brand new releases from Some Odd Girl, Kiss A Prince Tia.

Gotta go see what the other girls made for their me gifts…

Welcome Little FFC

As we approach WCMD I’m a little apprehensive because I gotta tell ya I’ve never had a chance to play along.  Something has always come up.  This may be the first year I get to do anything and I’m not sure what to do.

Christi tried to prep us a little bit for it though in this week’s challenge.  She literally broke up the letters of WCMD and gave us something to do.

W – Write or doodle on your card
C – Corner Punch
M – Magenta
D – Damask

I realized as I was editing my picture that I forgot to doodle my hearts on though and I have a confession that I didn’t feel like retaking the picture.  Since I’m giving this to my friend tomorrow because they went into labor today to give birth to their brand new baby girl, I’m not sure it will happen.  Another 1st because I don’t usually give away my cards this fast when I make them unless I specifically make something on the fly for someone.  I must be on a roll.  UH OH!!  Watch out!! hehe

WelcomeOwls Can’t wait to see what the other girlies came up with since I flaked on my own challenge last week because I was so sick & in bed.  URGH!

It’s Still Friday

Right?  I’m late, I know.  I’ve been busy putting my kits together for my class tomorrow.  I’m so excited.  It’s in support of breast cancer.  Which is what inspired this challenge.  I don’t have a total card to share but I’m giving you a peek of what I’m sharing on All Things Unity on Sunday because we will be doing something similar.

NeverSm I hope you will take the time to play with us in support of Breast Cancer and then take the time to check out the other Sassy Girlie Girls.

Going in Circles FFC (Post 2 of 2)

If you are looking for the Kraftin Kimme Post please scroll down.

I have to say when I came up with challenges this month I decided to go a little easy on the group.  I kinda came to the “executive decision”, as my boss puts it, that we needed a break.  Not a formal break but a, well I think you know what I mean.  When I came up with this one I just said Use Circles, Interpret as you like

Now as I was getting ready for this challenge, I was going through some of my stuff I got & did at CKC Charlotte.  And I came across a Make~N~Take I did at the Glimmer Mist booth… it’s covered it circle shapes.  I got a AH-HA moment & decided to work it into my card.

TravelCardOf course I added a few more of my own with a new impression plate I had gotten when I went to CHA.  Plus a few other little extras.

Now I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to see what the other girls did for CIRCLES

Sending Hugs FFC

Hey babes!!  It’s time for a long weekend and I am so ready for it.  I can’t even begin to tell you.  It will feel nice to relax a little.  HMMM, what’s that like right?  hehe.

I must warn you I am the hostess for this month for the Friday Fun Challenge.  The first I think will be kinda fun.  It’s along the lines of Something Old/Something New.  Use something in you haven’t broken outta the wrapper yet & something that you haven’t used in quite a while.  That way you get the best of both worlds.  Or at least that’s my view on it.

SendingHugsWith all the things I’ve been doing lately between CHA & CKC I had plenty I could break outta wrapper, it was just a matter of choosing what.

I went with a set of stamps from PaperTrey Ink (Friends Til The End) and Ribbon from MFT (gorgeous ribbon that I really would LOVE to get more of!!)
As for the old, I used a stick pin & twine that I’ve had for a while, don’t even get me started on the paper.

I can’t wait to see how the rest of the sassy girls did the Old & New challenge…

Let’s Make Some Origami

NO!! Just kidding!!

I don’t think I could make origami to save my life unless it was to make one of those things we made as a kid where you wrote different things on the insides and got different outcomes.  Can’t remember what they are called.

However we are making cards that aren’t your standard folds as Kimme puts it.  No regular top or side folds.  This is your chance to try out stair step, pop up, accordion fold, the list goes on.  I went with gate fold. I guess I should also warn you that I think that my mojo is gone.  So not one of my favorite cards.

Outdoorsy

We’re heading outdoors!!  Ok, so some of us are.  I’m not, hehe.  My mom & I are heading to Charlotte to CKC.  However Kimme, our cutie pie host this month, is going camping this weekend.  She wants us to take our creations outdoors nonetheless.  That’s why she issued us a color challenge with outdoorsy colors (her words), greens & browns.  I went with that & with some wildflowers too.  If you’re coming here from All Things Unity then you’ve already seen the tutorial, if not then you might want to go over then to check it out.

FinalIn doing this technique, I’ve really gotten to love this stamp for it.

Now I’m ready for my picnic with my other girls…

Hitting the Books

This week (or at least in the next couple of weeks) a lot of the kiddies are going back to school.  My nephew included.  I can’t believe he is starting the 2nd grade.  I can still remember when I was in the 2nd grade and who my teacher was, Ms. Mann (by the way, I didn’t like her!!).  It just blows my mind that I can have a nephew that can be going through that now.

In honor of the begin of the school year, we over at All Things Unity decided to make projects with school in mind.  Not only that because I was such a slacker on my normal Friday Fun Challenge, I incorporated that as well.  I’m hoping they’ll forgive me for totally flaking.

1stDayPlease go visit my Friday Fun Sassy Girls to see what they made then you can go to the All Things Unity blog to see what the rest of the Design Team came up with.

Grow Extraordinary

With the beginning of August right around the corner, I guess people have the start thinking about school.  Well I guess they do, hehehe.  Not being a parent myself and not being in school for let’s just say a little bit.  This we’re returning for a bit but a refused the idea a bit but before I confuse you royally I’ll tell you what the heck I’m talking about.  Our illustrious leader this month Sherry has challenged us this week to make our project with our alma mater colors.

OK, besides not reading past the fact that it was about schools I don’t know what my schools colors are because I graduated from a home school.  The high school I went to until the 10th grade well I refuse to use their colors, insert evil grin smirk here.  So I just went with a teacher appreciation card.

Case Yourself FFC

Case yourself.  No CASE yourself as in Copy and Share Everything.

That was our challenge for this week.  Sherry told us to go to our very first uploaded project on our blog and CASE it.  YIKES!!, right?  I started my blog three years ago, I had no idea what I was going to find.  But what I did was not as bad as what I did say 7 years ago.

My original from August 2007
