I had a great time making this card.  It’s one of those that everything comes together better than you expect.

Ok here’s a little bit of information for you out there.  As you may know I have a new studio/craft room space.  Well, my doggie hates it.  I mean hates it.  I really don’t understand it either.  When I go in there she hovers, paces or whatever other intimidation tactic she can to get me out of there.  Usually she ends up going outside.  So recently I’ve taken to if I’m not specifically working on something and I can color, I will take stamped images into the living room.  And then she’s happy.  This was one of my pre-colored images.

Working Fabric FFC

Christi is our awesome hostess this month and when I saw the challenge this week it really made me start to think.  Why?  Because as she puts it “For today, it's all about you. Create a project that is just for you and your enjoyment.”  EH?  Make something for me?  I think I did that once.  But to do it again?   OK!

Alright I am a HUGE reader…HUGE!!  This is what I decided to do.

And I think it goes really well with the Some Odd Girl Challenge too to use fabric on your creation.  That’s right the entire front is fabric and not paper.  I backed it with cardboard.  I also used one of the brand new releases from Some Odd Girl, Kiss A Prince Tia.

Gotta go see what the other girls made for their me gifts…

Hope You Can Cling To

This month SplitCoast Stampers is partnering with UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for a month long card drive to benefit those that have been affected by breast cancer.

They kicked off the campaign Saturday on World Card Making Day (WCMD).  And I have the privilege of hosting today’s challenge and tomorrow’s.

This one is going to be a little different and take a little twist on something you already know.

1. Something old (preferably something that has been in your stash for a year or more, if you haven't been crafting that long *GASP* that's ok just pick your oldest thing)
2. Something new (something just out of the wrapper or you know you just got from the store recently)

Now last week’s challenge was Chapter 32: Journey to the Center of the Earth where Jen challenged us to fall down the rabbit hole… literally.  She wanted us to create a card with a window or a card.  Last week I was sick but I had already created some of my card and I wanted to finish it so I did.

Krafty Day with Kraftin Kimmie

CHAPTER 30: Hey there, Nice Stems... (Post 1 of 2)

Just as Alice said this, she noticed that one of the trees had a door leading right into it. `That's very curious!' she thought. `But everything's curious today. I think I may as well go in at once.' And in she went.

Once more she found herself in the long hall, and close to the little glass table. `Now, I'll manage better this time,' she said to herself, and began by taking the little golden key, and unlocking the door that led into the garden.

Then she went to work nibbling at the mushroom (she had kept a piece of it in her pocked) till she was about a foot high: then she walked down the little passage: and THEN--she found herself at last in the beautiful garden, among the bright flower-beds and the cool fountains..."

Hello out there! It's a lovely day here in Wonderland and we are celebrating the summer with a nature theme today! Well, TREES and FLOWERS and BIRDS to be more exact! (NOTE: And apparently I can’t even read the original challenge because all I saw was that it was a sketch challenge, I know bless my heart).  We scored a GREAT sketch sponsored by PAGEMAPS today that is just perfect for today's theme:

Fly Me to the Moon Annette

Let me play among the stars.  Now see I think this would be fun.  Now before I go rambling on about how much I used to be into sun, moons & stars.  I used to have my room/bathroom decorated in it.  OOPS, kinda did anyway. 

It just kinda brings me to my card today.  When I went to use the sneak today of Annette, I just pictured her sitting on a moon.  Ya know, swinging.  It kind of reminded me of the old pin up ads.  I LOVE THOSE!!  Actually I just love vintage things.  Antique things.  Old things or however you want to put it.

CHAPTER 29: What makes YOU Shine....or SPARKLE?...

`Why, what are YOUR shoes done with?' said the Gryphon. `I mean, what makes them so shiny?'

Alice looked down at them, and considered a little before she gave her answer. `They're done with blacking, I believe.'

`Boots and shoes under the sea,' the Gryphon went on in a deep voice, `are done with a whiting. Now you know.'

`And what are they made of?' Alice asked in a tone of great curiosity.

`Soles and eels, of course,' the Gryphon replied rather impatiently: `any shrimp could have told you that.'

`If I'd been the whiting,' said Alice, whose thoughts were still running on the song, `I'd have said to the porpoise, "Keep back, please: we don't want YOU with us!"'

`They were obliged to have him with them,' the Mock Turtle said: `no wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.'

`Wouldn't it really?' said Alice in a tone of great surprise.

Using Whatcha Got

One of the major perks to me as being part of the Stash a SOGgy girl is that they are challenging me to use it up.  That’s right, I don’t know if you believe this or not I have a stash.  Are you as shocked as I am? 

For the first challenge that I am participating in, however, it is Stash Challenge #6.  It is to use Ribbons & Rubons.  I really didn’t have a problem with either because it’s not like I didn’t have both.  My main problem was finding the right rubon to use.  Yet, I found the perfect one.

Now ya gotta go check out what the other girls did because they did an amazing job.

I'm SOGgy!!

There were so many different ways I thought of going with this post.

1. It stormed down here last night, so I could literally be soggy.
2. Once I tell you what the SOG stands for, some of you will definitely have some smart comments ;) but that’s why I love ya.

But I narrowed it down to the above.  I am happy to announce that I’ve been invited to join the SOME ODD GIRL design team.  

Please hold all comments til the end.  I did tell them I was perfect for this team as was indeed odd.  Don’t believe me?  Ask Kristy, I did I swear.

I’m part of the stash team (we’re divided into two teams style & stash).  Keep on the lookout for upcoming challenges.  This one doesn’t fall into either, it was just for fun!!  You will be able to find the challenges on the SOG challenge blog.

Now believe it or not the image I used on my project was the freebie for July.  The freebie for August is Tiny Tobie and he is just too cute.  I used it on the front of a notebook I used to keep up with my Copic markers.  Ya know, which ones I have & don’t, plus what combos I like.  I got the idea from my buddy Colleen.

Hello everyone! Greetings from here in Wonderland...or maybe today it's UNDERland? As in Under the Sea, perhaps ;)  So, today's challenge involves all things sea-worthy and we at Oh, Alice are challenging YOU to create a card or project using sea life! Turtles, whales, dolphins are fabulous as are other sea creatures as in merfolk and those deep, dark creatures you sometimes hear about but seldom see.... the possibilities are as endless as the ocean itself!  We also have a FUN prize for you this week! Persuasion

Ok, it’s time for some more insight into me.  One of my favorite authors of all time is Jane Austen.  I have read all of her novels, even her lesser known ones.  I have even read the ones that weren’t quite completed but were by others.  One of my dream vacations (the 1st one would be to go to Italy) would be to spend a month in the English countryside traveling around visiting a lot of the areas Jane Austen wrote about.

I love Pride and Prejudice I think most of all but a very close and mean very close 2nd is Persuasion.  I love the story line and of course the happy ending mainly because I could see this one happening to me.  

This brings me to the latest challenge over at All Things Unity, we were to make anything but a card.  It got me to thinking so I decided to make a canvas including pages from the book with some of my favorite quotes.  I’m not quite done, there a few more things I want to do but I think you get the general idea.

The catch?  You must RE-CREATE this sketch somehow.   Switch out a panel or two, flip on its side, upside down, etc.  There are no rules except to break them, meaning you can't follow the sketch exactly!  Makes no sense right?  GOOD. :)

You’re A Star

I can’t believe it but I actually had this card done ahead of time. If you know me at all you know get my cards done the night before. Yet lately I’ve been coloring my images ahead of time you have no idea how much this has helped me get me stuff done in advance.

Our girl Sherry who started her new job today and apparently it’s going pretty well. Her boy Alex has a birthday this week so she wanted us to make a masculine card in honor of him. As I don’t celebrate birthdays, I did make something close & definitely I believe to be masculine.
