Taintor-tude

I don’t know where I got my love for things vintage but I do.  I would like to think it came from my Bubbie.  She was quite a glamour girl back in her day, I wish I had a picture I could show you.  Note to self:  Must bug mom for Bubbie pictures.  I’ve been loving the Taintor images for awhile and been thinking about getting some of her stuff.

When I saw the challenge on Moxie Fab World to make a Taintor-esque card.  I set out right away to find just the right image and find just the right saying to go with it.  That’s when I came up with the following…

TalkTooMuchActually my sister helped my decide between two pictures because I had already come up with the phrase.  I’m not sure if you can tell in the picture or not but I used JustRite Brayton Font stamps to do a resist technique to say Blah, Blah, Blah across the background paper.

I also found some Taintor type image coasters at Michael’s that I might turn into cards.  Be on the look out, hehe.

Stamps: JustRite Brayton Font, Pitney Bowes Old Ad from Internet
Paper: PTI – Soft Stone, Rusty Pickle PP, HP Brochure Paper
Ink: Versamark, Distress Ink – Weathered Wood
Extras: DeNami Ribbon, Prima Flower, clear eP, MM Letter Stickers

IT’S SNOWING!!!

*if you are looking for the FWF or FFC post please scroll down to the next post.

I have to tell you I don’t snow here very often.  As I live in the deep south, you can imagine that when it does happen it’s kinda a big deal.  Right now we are having a steady and continuous coming down of snow, and it has been for about the past 3 1/2 hours.  So there’s no telling how much will accumulate.  Now my, well I say puppy but she’s about 4 years old now has never seen the stuff.  Here she is discovering it and I just had to share.

SniffingSnow

Once she got in it she loved it… a lot better then rain.  She hates rain!!

ARGGGHHH!!!

IT’S FRIDAY!!! I think you might know what that means by now. But just in case you don’t I’ll refresh your memory. We’re off with FFC & FWF, which means nothing but FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

This Friday, Sherry has challenged us to make a masculine card and she said that because it was Lincoln’s birthday to make it a birthday card. However I don’t celebrate birthdays. So I took a few liberties, one) she didn’t say how old the masculine person had to be (hehe) and two) she didn’t say it had to be blatantly a birthday card. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!! Sorry, I think I’m getting slap happy for being up a little too late and sniffing sharpies (I’ll save that one for a later post). Onward to the card…

TreauredPirate

I did a few different things on this bad boy. This is the same piece of paper that I used to make the flower behind the Izzy card from the other day. I distressed the edges, sprayed it with water, rubbed it down with ink, crumpled it up & then zapped it with my heat gun. I think it turned out pretty cool looking. I then stamped it with the map stamp and then hit it with the distress stickles on the X spot to make sure it really stood out.

I also had cut some curves on a scrap piece of paper, used my Tim Holtz sponger with Weathered Wood & Broken China to make my waves on the bottom of my PTI Kraft paper. I then took a glitter pen along the edges of the waves to accentuate them.

I stamped & colored the pirate ship on some Prism paper.

Stamps: Unity – Pirate Madness
Ink: Memento – Rich Cocoa & Tuxedo Black, Distress Ink – Weathered Wood, Old Paper, Broken China
Paper: PTI Kraft, Prism SSW, WM Pack
Extras: Glossy Accents, Glitter Pen, Copics, Distressor, Prismas, SU Word Window Punch

Dreaming of a Fun Friday

I’m so glad that it’s Friday.  We’ll pretend I don’t feel that every week.  I love Fridays and I really think we shouldn’t have to work on them.  We should only have 4 day work weeks.  You think we can make it happen?

Either way I still like them because we have Friday Fun Challenge and Friends with Flair.

This month it’s Sherry’s turn to host and she choose for us to go simple.  But by going simple it can be so hard, or at least for me.

  • You however many stamps as you like
  • Only use 3 ink colors (brown or black don’t count)
  • 3 colors of cardstock plus one neutral (no patterned paper)
  • Only one coloring medium, i.e. markers, pencils, chalks.
  • Embellishments: can only use one kind but as many of that one kind as you want.
  • No nestabilities, but punches are ok.

ButterflyDreamStamps: All Unity – Worn Grid, Remember Happiness (Aug KoM)
Paper: PTI Red Poppy, Ocean Tides, SU Certainly Celery, SEI Brown
Ink: Black Ink, Distress Ink – Broken China, Fired Brick, Shabby Shutters
Extras: Perfect Pearls, EK Success Border Punch, Red Jewels

Please go check out what the others made up for this challenge.

Whee Whooo

I love what I do!!  I love having a creative outlet.  I have missed being able to make anything over the last couple of weeks.  I realize at CHA I was making the different Make and Takes but it’s just not the same.  I love getting my hands dirty, I wear it as a badge of honor.

This card shocked me when took me less than an hour.

Ink: Memento - Rich Cocoa & Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Soft Stone, MFT Perfect Panels, EK Success PP

Saying Goodbye

is never easy. And all good things must end. Pick your cliche and in this case they fit. Yet I must say goodbye to my fellow Queen Kat Royal Court Members. I wish them all well and I have learned a lot. I am hoping that I can keep some of the friendships that I made and that I will continue to see all of them to grow in all of their endeavors.

With all of that I figured I might share one last project that I made to wear while I was working the CHA Supershow. It's with one of the new releases that is coming soon (it was supposed to be released at the supershow). I also made the flowers at the top with ribbon & FlowerSoft to help show how to use the product I was demonstrating.

Noticing a Trend

While a CHA I gotta tell ya I noticed kinda a trend in a lot of the Make and Takes.  I’m not complaining because I kinda like it.  There was jewelry everywhere.

Neck&Brace Whether it was from Ranger (Claudine Hellmuth), Hero Arts (Jennifer McGuire), GCD, Ideology by Advantus.

Pins

And more from Ranger and one especially made by Mrs. Suze Weinberg herself.

Of course there was more I just didn’t in anyway have time to make it all, there was some at Making Memories and so much more.
