The Duke & I

I had a great time making this card.  It’s one of those that everything comes together better than you expect.

TheDuke&I

Ok here’s a little bit of information for you out there.  As you may know I have a new studio/craft room space.  Well, my doggie hates it.  I mean hates it.  I really don’t understand it either.  When I go in there she hovers, paces or whatever other intimidation tactic she can to get me out of there.  Usually she ends up going outside.  So recently I’ve taken to if I’m not specifically working on something and I can color, I will take stamped images into the living room.  And then she’s happy.  This was one of my pre-colored images.

To the Moon Alice!

Ok not quite but I’m actually getting to my studio a little more.  Let’s just call it therapy, LOL

Plus I was able to do a few challenges I’ve been meaning to do.

Moon&Back

I took a card base and added some very appropriate October Afternoon paper – Rocket Age.  I even got to use the Rocket Age Miscellany (the strip of words & rocket ship).  The stamp is MFT You Move Me Die-Namics & Stamp Set.   Then I used the Die-namics Star Border to not only add a border but to add some visual interest to my rocket ship, they are held on by Hero Arts rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by.

NOTE:  I realize I’m a total loser and never announced who won the tote.  I’ve decided because I’m such a loser that the first person that is also on that post that responds will win the tote but all the others will also get a prize.

Would You Like to Ride in My Beautiful Balloon?

I really love the newest stamps that My Favorite Things has out now, they are called Inspired By.  They have that realistic touch to them.  I will say that it doesn’t really matter it seems like I like MFT either way.  So when I got this newest set I really needed an excuse to use it… FOUND ONE!!!  This week’s Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch and away I played.

FlyAway

I covered my base with Lille – 7 Gypsies paper  then I cut out 2 circles out of coordinating paper from the same pad.  However before laying them down, I broke out my new Prima Masks (#3) and some Glimmer Mist to add some more hot air balloons to make it look like there would be more than 2.  The circles were added then I went to cutting out some more shapes, such as Die-namics Banner Day Die from Misc. Red cardstock (sprayed with water & walnut ink to distress) & the 2 hot air balloons that were stamped in Jenni Bowlin Stamp Tin & Seed Packet.  The blue twinery was added with glossy accents & then the banners were followed up with Helmar ZapDots.  The last touches were the hot air balloons with Liquid Scrap Dots.  Don’t forget your sentiment stamped in Versafine Tuxedo Black.

Set… Match!!

Ok, not meaning to repeat myself, but as you know I’m getting ready for the craft fair still and as I still have a little over 2 weeks to do so you’ll be hearing about quite some more.  Besides jewelry and some other goodies, I’m making some card sets.  These are a few of the ones I’ve made so far.  PLEASE let me know what you think.

As I was making these it was so kindly brought to my attention that these fit in perfectly with the Moxie Fab – Card Sets Challenge.  WooHoo and I had 3 to boot!!  Now all I have to do is put them in their recycled PTI containers with some seam binding.

Thanks for cruising by!!

Weight of the Matter

Still busy creating and making hoping that I’ll be hearing something soon.  When I first saw this set by Cornish Heritage Farms, I absolutely fell in love!!!  It’s just too cute/funny for words.  And I think that people will be able to connect with it.

{Happy} Happy Girl!!

As you may have known I have been re-doing a room in my house to make it my “office” aka my craft room.  I was going to buy a desk but I decided to get a little industrious and try something.  I bought a solid wood door, which I painted with a glossy white.  Then my dad built me a base that I then painted with the same glossy white (easier to wipe clean).  Well tonight he and I moved it into my office!!! Last weekend we put up my shelves and I put up a bar & moved in an older table.  Although I’m not totally done it’s starting to shape up a LOT more.  I’M SO EXCITED!!!

Roomy

Now I’m going to have to start loading it up.  The best part!!!  And I can promise you I’m going to have stuff I’ll be purging.

Enough about my happy, happy; joy, joy.  I do have a card to share.  One of my very favorite stamp companies is My Favorite Things.  They take up a great deal of room in my new office.  LOL  Because though I have been out of commission for so many months I haven’t gotten to play with them as much as I want.  However this week I did get a chance to play with the sketch challenge.  It’s so much fun being able to get back into the swing of things.

Joining the Rejection Train

One of my friends Ashley put it this way FB so I hope she doesn’t mind that I’m borrowing it.  Papercrafts Magazine invited us rejectees to link up through a mini-blog hop that Dr. Amber was putting together.

I have to say I kind of like this idea because you still get to share your cards and maybe even to new people.  Thanks Dr. Amber & Papercrafts Mag!!Sketch1

CHAPTER 35: Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Wonderland's Door

"Alice laughed so much at this, that she had to run back into the wood for fear of their hearing her; and when she next peeped out the Fish-Footman was gone, and the other was sitting on the ground near the door, staring stupidly up into the sky.

Alice went timidly up to the door, and knocked.

`There's no sort of use in knocking,' said the Footman, `and that for two reasons. First, because I'm on the same side of the door as you are; secondly, because they're making such a noise inside, no one could possibly hear you.' And certainly there was a most extraordinary noise going on within--a constant howling and sneezing, and every now and then a great crash, as if a dish or kettle had been broken to pieces.

`Please, then,' said Alice, `how am I to get in?' ~Chapter 6, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Hey everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Wonderland and we are BACK with another challenge!

Have you ever felt like Alice? Not sure which door, window, or keyhole will be opened or closed next? Not sure which direction you're going but curiouser and curiouser about them all?

What a PERFECT opportunity to explore some new avenues, and walk through new doors we bring you at Oh, Alice this week. That's right! Your challenge this week is to create a card or project using a Door, Gate, or Keyhole. Now, you can also get creative and do a gatefold technique, etc. As long as we can see it's a "Gatefold" or that there is a door, gate, or keyhole somewhere on your project! How FUN is this?

The best part? There's no time limit to play this week, so have fun and here's to opening lots of new doors in the future!

Working Fabric FFC

Christi is our awesome hostess this month and when I saw the challenge this week it really made me start to think.  Why?  Because as she puts it “For today, it's all about you. Create a project that is just for you and your enjoyment.”  EH?  Make something for me?  I think I did that once.  But to do it again?   OK!

Alright I am a HUGE reader…HUGE!!  This is what I decided to do.

TiniBookmarkAnd I think it goes really well with the Some Odd Girl Challenge too to use fabric on your creation.  That’s right the entire front is fabric and not paper.  I backed it with cardboard.  I also used one of the brand new releases from Some Odd Girl, Kiss A Prince Tia.

Gotta go see what the other girls made for their me gifts…

Sending Hugs FFC

Hey babes!!  It’s time for a long weekend and I am so ready for it.  I can’t even begin to tell you.  It will feel nice to relax a little.  HMMM, what’s that like right?  hehe.

I must warn you I am the hostess for this month for the Friday Fun Challenge.  The first I think will be kinda fun.  It’s along the lines of Something Old/Something New.  Use something in you haven’t broken outta the wrapper yet & something that you haven’t used in quite a while.  That way you get the best of both worlds.  Or at least that’s my view on it.

SendingHugsWith all the things I’ve been doing lately between CHA & CKC I had plenty I could break outta wrapper, it was just a matter of choosing what.

I went with a set of stamps from PaperTrey Ink (Friends Til The End) and Ribbon from MFT (gorgeous ribbon that I really would LOVE to get more of!!)
As for the old, I used a stick pin & twine that I’ve had for a while, don’t even get me started on the paper.

I can’t wait to see how the rest of the sassy girls did the Old & New challenge…

Let’s Make Some Origami

NO!! Just kidding!!

I don’t think I could make origami to save my life unless it was to make one of those things we made as a kid where you wrote different things on the insides and got different outcomes.  Can’t remember what they are called.

However we are making cards that aren’t your standard folds as Kimme puts it.  No regular top or side folds.  This is your chance to try out stair step, pop up, accordion fold, the list goes on.  I went with gate fold. I guess I should also warn you that I think that my mojo is gone.  So not one of my favorite cards.

One of My Favorite Things

In the crafting world, there are several stamp companies I keep coming back to.  In fact, if I had to narrow it down to my top 2 it would be without a doubt and I say this as being in no particular order…

1) Unity
2) My Favorite Things

Which brings me to my latest project.  I really love to mix all my loves and passions.  I was inspired by the latest My Favorite Things GDT challenge.  Didn’t bother me a bit that I had loaded up quite on goodies while I was CHA and it gave me an excuse to break them out.  hehe

Just so you know the cork and felt they have is AWE-SOME!! If you don’t have any already, you must go get some!!  Don’t walk run, don’t pass GO, JUST GO!!

Chapter 25:White Rabbit, White Gloves, White Wonderland

"After a time she heard a little pattering of feet in the distance, and she hastily dried her eyes to see what was coming. It was the White Rabbit returning, splendidly dressed, with a pair of white kid gloves in one hand and a large fan in the other: he came trotting along in a great hurry, muttering to himself as he came, `Oh! the Duchess, the Duchess! Oh! won't she be savage if I've kept her waiting!'
Alice felt so desperate that she was ready to ask help of any one; so, when the Rabbit came near her, she began, in a low, timid voice, `If you please, sir--' The Rabbit started violently, dropped the white kid gloves and the fan, and skurried away into the darkness as hard as he could go..."

~Alices Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter 2

That's RIGHT. WHITE WONDERLAND. And we're not talkin' about Christmas! Your mission today, should you choose to accept it is to create (WITH the exception of your main image panel) an ALL WHITE card or project!

Hoo-Ray FFC

Are you thinking I’m doing my normal yeah it’s Friday dance?  Well you’re partly right.  I’m really doing it as a congratulations for Sherry, she got a new job.  Hopefully a lot better job then her last one (one with a better schedule a least).

That’s why she made this week’s challenge a Congratulations, Farewell or We Miss You card, yet there is a catch… it had to have a bird on it.  The name of her old company was Eagle Transport, hence the bird.  You don’t have to use an eagle just a bird.  When I was going through my sets on what to use I found the perfect set to use.

HooRayStamps: MFT - Thinking of Hoo, Owls of the Seasons (stars)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Distress Inks – Barn Door, Stormy Sky
Paper: PTI Spring Moss, MME Penny Lane, Misc Kraft
Extra: Prisma Color Pencils, Ribbon Slide, Red Paper Source Paper Ribbon, EK Success Corner Rounder

I hope you’ll play along with us as we congratulate Sherry on her new job.  Make sure you also go by her blog & leave her a little message as well.  You can also go by the other sassy girls & see what they set up for this week.

Coming Up Daisies

You would think roses right?  But nope daisies.  It’s time for another Oh, Alice! Challenge.  Are you ready to go down the hole?

CHAPTER 18: Crazy for Daisy Chains...

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, and where is the use of a book, thought Alice, without pictures or conversations? So she was considering in her own mind, (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid,) whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain was worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when a white rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. "

Hello everyone!

We have lots of fun to share today here at Oh, Alice!   We have a fun new sketch with a twist from our very own Tasha.   Here's the sketch:

OAC18byTasha

The Twist?  Use a DAISY or some sort of similar flower and incorporate it on your card!  Nothin' like a little FLOWER POWER to kick start your mojo, Alice always says!

What's more?  We have a WONDERFUL Sponsor today, Tickled Pink Stamps!  One lucky winner from this week's entries will receive a special prize.

Want to play along and get Crazy for Daisies and get sketchy too?   Hooray!  We'd love to have you!  Just upload your card or creation to our Oh Alice blog and use OAC18 if you're using a public gallery such as SCS.   You have until FRIDAY, JUNE 25th at 8pm CST to enter to WIN!!

QueenieTY

I went with using My Favorite Things stamps for two reasons.  1) I missed last week’s challenge & hated that because I love MFT stamps & have lots, lots & lots of them, including this new adorable set. 2) Somehow I didn’t get a chance to get one of Tasha’s wonderful stamps.

You would think that the challenge was to use as much bling as possible not daisies, LOL!!

Stamps: MFT Wonderland Costumes
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: PTI Kraft, Neenah White, American Crafts – A La Carte, Yellow Bazzill
Extras: Copics, The Paper Studio – Jewels, Nestabilities, Ric Rack Die Cut from MFT, Smooch – Siren, Gold Sakura Pen

Graduation Day at the FFC

It’s that time of the year!!  It’s graduation time!!  YEAH!!  Sometimes I wish I was just graduating from High School again, but if I was I wish I knew what I know now.  Isn’t that always how it is?

Us girls over at the Friday Fun Challenge are helping celebrate with our fellow sassy girls’ and their kiddies (although they are probably not so much that anymore).  Jimmi challenged us this week to make a graduation card.  I have to say I went super easy but I have a reason.  My air is not working properly & it was over 90 degrees when I was making the 2 cards I made tonight.  Can you say sweat box?  I went with as quick & as simple as I can do.

A Rolling Sketch

It’s a new month.  And the beginning of June, which means Summer.  I love the summer!!  I just wish it meant the same thing it did when we were kids.  Ya know… 3 months of vacation!!  Oh well, welcome to adulthood.

Our hostess this month is Jimmi.  Have you seen the sketches she’s been doing lately?  I love them!!  I not only did one here for the Friday Fun Challenge but also over at the All Things Unity blog for Friends With Flair (they are both Jimmi’s sketches and both of them are different).  You have to see what she’s got.  I know stop babbling.

What did I do with it?

SoLovelyTo me it reminded me of rolling hills so I ran with it & perched my little Jolinne girlie on them.

Fun At The Movies

With my sister & brother in law having their anniversary a week & a half ago, I wanted to come up with something cute to go with the gift card that I got for them to go with the NetFlix Gift Certificate that I had gotten them.  It went really nice with the new Blu Ray we got them.  I started thinking about it and I came up with this idea.

PopcornPopcornInI drew up a popcorn box & had fun with my Chick Flick set from My Favorite Things.  I only wish I could have had an image with a guy & a girl.  But I was good with it looking like it was my sis & me.

Stamps: Chick Flick
Ink: Memento Tuxedo
Paper: SEI Addison, Neenah CS
Extras: Copics, Diamond Glaze, Pop Dots, Clip Art
